Isbell would be my pick as well. I was surprised he wasn’t on the lineup when it came out.

What is the deal with John F and breaking bread?
There are unresolved issues between John F. & Josh K. Josh was unceremoniously let go from the Peppers because John F. wanted to come back after a jam session with Flea.

Chad Smith remains cool with everyone, and Flea has had nothing but good things to say about Josh, albeit with some regret. Anthony has been tight-lipped on the whole thing, as has John F.

Josh has been doing his own thing, but has landed firmly as a touring member of PJ. He's proved himself 10 times over (with Ed & the Earthlings, and PJ), and the band is not going to do anything to make him uncomfortable, or be in a tough spot.

Booking or asking RHCP for Ohana (or any joint PJ venture) would do just that.

So, until more time has passed, or there's been some sort of summit (I tried shortening it with the aforementioned "breaking bread"), the 2 bands as their respective wholes remain quite separate.

Appreciate all of the feedback and suggestions. I didn’t know about the RHCP/Josh issues. Dang. If they want to keep the Neil vibe bring in Wilco. Speaking of breaking bread, bring in Son Volt too and let them go old-school Uncle Tupelo on us. Still, it stinks to lose Neil. Hope we get a true headliner, even if it means flipping to a No Doubt ticket or something similar.

    From the Ohana thread:

    Completely Plausible
    - Brandi Carlile
    - Jack Johnson
    - Iggy Pop
    - Jane's Addiction

    Longshot, But Worth An Ask
    - Bruce (solo, or E-Street)
    - Miley Cyrus
    - John Fogerty
    - Coldplay (or Chris Martin solo)

    Not Happening
    - MMJ (on tour)
    - Kings of Leon (on tour)
    - Social Distortion (on tour)
    - RHCP (because of John F., unless this is where they break bread)

    We need a HEADLINER.
Coldplay, Fogerty, or Bruce would be phenomenal. I choose to hold out hope.

No Doubt would be very cool also.  They are from the area.  I think it would be easier to find a headliner in general, vs trying to find a band that caters to Neil fans but can also fill a headliner slot.

Tough situation all around, but at least there’s some time to find someone. The festival in Ottawa Neil pulled out of is the week after next, and they got The Offspring in his place…

    From Neil to Offspring. Oof.

I don't really see Jack Johnson or Iggy as huge headliners. I'm sure they have been but on a Neil level. Coldplay or Chris can't because he's going to be at Global Citizens Festival that day. Unless he does what Usher did when he performed at GCF in the afternoon then took a flight to Vegas to play the IHeart Radio Festival the same day.
Brandi pretty much says yes to anything so that's probably the best option. If Post Malone wasn't headlining GCF that day maybe he would have been asked. Zach Bryan might be a possibility.

The biggest get would be Taylor. And she can do a stripped down version

Good call. Zach Bryan would be great. Imagine Taylor coming to play an acoustic set at dusk. Would be incredible.

The day has a country vibe already (hello, Turnpike Troubadors).

Miley, or Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit remain my top picks (unless John Fogerty wants to bless us with a set that could lead to Ed & Mike joining him for 'Fortunate Son'🙏)

It’s a real shame that there is a problem between John and Josh. The albums they made together were pretty cool, among my favourites from John’s non-RHCP albums.

Thanks... I should have made that connection. Makes sense.

I saw Josh with rhcp and he was great... He did seasons as a dedication to Cornell and blew everyone away

Thinking the whole Saturday was set-up with a vibe to suit NY.  So while I do feel like its most likely Alanis will just move to the Saturday headline slot, I think an older artist might be a good choice to suit the more chilled vibe.  Maybe Billy Joel or even (off the wall suggestion) John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival)...

Maybe Emmylou Harris and Joni Michell can split it

The Avett Brothers would be great. They're set to be in San Diego on the 6th so that would work pretty well.

First Aid Kit isn't touring at that time but they'd be a good one.

Maggie Roger's has a break before her USA shows start the following week as well.

QOTSA is a pipe dream, but they'd be amazing. Might not be the right setting for them though.
    It's a hopeless situation...
