Ed can't do 3 nights in a row anymore. 2021 was the nail in that coffin.
PJ did 3 in a row in 2022.

Attn:  Pearl Jam Management, have you been in touch with Mr. Reznor?
Acoustic NIN would be really nice.  Also regular NIN :rock_on:

They would be for sure, but their current US tour ends Sept 1 and starts back up in Europe early Oct. So chances are he will already be back home overseas long before Ohana comes around.

Santana puts on an amazing show and I'd imagine he would cater to NY crowd.  He would have to cancel his 9/28 Vegas show, but it looks like a residancy so prob should be ok.

Counting Crows maybe, but they are in Maryland on 9/27.  If they could swing it, would be decent.
I’ve never read as many negative reviews of a live act then I have with Counting Crows.
Saw them a couple of years ago for the first time at the Orange County (CA) fair.  They were fantastic.
I’ve seen the Counting Crows 4 times and have enjoyed every show. Last year at Red Rocks was fantastic.

When do we expect a replacement to be announced? I would assume they want to get it announced to try to sell the remaining tickets for Saturday as soon as possible. I’m kind of surprised there are tickets still available for Friday and Saturday. Before Neil dropped out Friday and Saturday were the only days where mirror ball songs would have been possible because he had a different show scheduled at the Hollywood Bowl Sunday night

That comes across as picking elderly rock bands to plug and play because Neil is old. None of those bands have done much of anything in the last 30 years and I think Ben Harper has more overlap with Neil, but that could be my own tastes talking. Plus, it’s July so it’s slim pickens at the moment and BHIC is playing a single show in Telluride in mid Sept, so maybe they could link up some Western US shows over those 2 weeks.

Add Plague Vendor late in the day, push Troubadours to headlining. The energy will make up for the lost name recognition.

Of all of the suggestions, the Avett Brothers or Brandi Carlile make the most sense to me.
My personal choices remain Johnny Marr or Paul Weller (who is a headliner in the UK; not sure that he is in the US, to be fair).

If we are going out of the box (and in some cases reality) how about Soundgarden with Brandi Carlile singing?

I'm basically waiting to find out whether I will have ended up paying 270 bucks per night for two Pearl Jam shows or 180 bucks per night for two Pearl Jam shows and a to-be-determined third show. Since these are sunk costs, I'm not sure whether I'm rooting for a new headliner that I want to see or a night off since I'll be driving down and back each night from L.A.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Thanks for the heads up on Counting Crows.  I've never seen them before, and definitely won't be seeing them in the future.

Santana however I do vouch for.  If you ever have the chance to see him, I highly recommend it.  He's great live.
I’ve seen Counting Crows probably 7 or 8 times since August and Everything After, in a variety of different venues (small-ish club in the early 90s to Sydney Opera House).

I get that Adam isn’t for everyone but I’ve really enjoyed it every time (but I’ve taken enough shit on here over the years for saying that.)
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

Friend went to one of their shows last year, said he'd never seen a band go through the motions like that before

I’ve only seen Counting Crows once. Adam didn’t seem into it at first but at some point he flipped a switch and it was fantastic after that. So…they could be awesome, ha

What is the deal with John F and breaking bread?
There are unresolved issues between John F. & Josh K. Josh was unceremoniously let go from the Peppers because John F. wanted to come back after a jam session with Flea.

Chad Smith remains cool with everyone, and Flea has had nothing but good things to say about Josh, albeit with some regret. Anthony has been tight-lipped on the whole thing, as has John F.

Josh has been doing his own thing, but has landed firmly as a touring member of PJ. He's proved himself 10 times over (with Ed & the Earthlings, and PJ), and the band is not going to do anything to make him uncomfortable, or be in a tough spot.

Booking or asking RHCP for Ohana (or any joint PJ venture) would do just that.

So, until more time has passed, or there's been some sort of summit (I tried shortening it with the aforementioned "breaking bread"), the 2 bands as their respective wholes remain quite separate.
And apparently John was pissed that Josh took the job with RHCP, they haven't spoken since.

I'll be interested to see who they announce, but please not Counting Crows.  I like their hits well enough, but took a flyer on them live last year and they were legitimately one of the worst live shows I've ever seen.  Adam talks through his songs, doesn't sing them, and frankly, that means the hits don't translate live.  Look up recent versions of "Mr. Jones" live on youtube.  You'll be disappointed.  Booking a band like them to replace a band live NYCH would make the loss of NYCH all the worse.
