    Bingo, there's a lot of 'expert' opinion on what the band should and shouldn't do these days. They know the show they want to play and people are turning up in their droves to see it. I dare say 32 years into their touring lives they have pretty much got a good formula by this stage.

    Every time I start to think they mail it in, I see a show like Camden. I keep saying it, but when Ed and the band are playing live, there is really no other place on the planet I would rather be.

    You'll never convince me that shorter set lists are better, and their peak for me will always be 2013 - 2016... having said that, I had zero problems w/ 24 songs each night in St Paul. The shows were awesome and if shorter sets means they can tour more in the coming years, I'm all for it.

    Yeah it was.  Maybe it's because it was a Tuesday night after a long weekend and maybe it's because I'm getting old but 2:30 and getting out before midnight was great.  Still a little slow this morning, however.

    You’ll see a 3+hour set if there’s not an opening act. Any show with an opener you can expect a 2-2:15 min set.

    I think that has changed. A 3 hr set will be a rarity now.

    They have had plenty of openers in the LB tour and still did 3hrs. Openers is not the issue imo

    They have had lots of openers. I guess, without knowing, that Taylor Hawkins death had something to do with the shorter sets. 100% speculation.

    More polished, and organized, yes, and also better. There's no comparing what I saw 10 years ago with what I saw in the era you mentioned. 

    To each his own, It's all subjective of course, but I'll take a 2013 show over pretty much any other year I've seen them.

    & yeah, the two shows in St Paul last week did nothing to dissuade me from trying to see them again. The show may only be 75% as long as what I considered to be their peak, but they were fantastic nonetheless. 

    (& In fairness, they might have been a better live act in '92 or '94, I have no frame of reference... '98 was the first time I saw them)
