As they get older I can't imagine just letting a year go by with no shows, especially following the pandemic shutdown.  The NW is starving for shows.  That being said, this thread is getting desperate

I think it is exactly the opposite. Think about the shorter sets and Taylor Hawkins. What was the shortest amount of time between a typical handful of dates played in the US? A spring run right after September shows just does not seem to fit their recent history. Speculation is fun though  :)

If there were no plans to tour, Ed would have likely scheduled more solo shows.
I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.

Or, hear me out. They are recording/editing and an album is closer then we think?

Maybe he needs to rest his voice for once. Take a break for a year. Do a world tour in '24

Not sure about that, festival headliner in a warm climate, western US, big pay day, and the baseball connection. His buddy Bronson's band is playing and there is a good chance Ed will play with them.  Not sure I see the connection to a solo or band tour.

Looking at the most optimistic view of recent history, we could say that if Covid hadn’t happened, there would have been a September 2020 leg of the Gigaton NA tour which would have been 5 months after the first leg was scheduled to end in April.

The only (other) time I can think of in the last 10 years when there were two North American legs within a year of each other was the interval from the run ending in Seattle in December, 2013 to the one starting in Cincinnati in October, 2014.

I guess there were also the 2016 ballpark shows a few months after the April/May tour that year, though that might be considered all the same tour.

If there’s another example could someone please point it out.  Otherwise the perspective about recent history not being on the side of a spring tour is probably hard to argue against, sadly.

And 2013-2014 was the Lighting Bolt tour in support of a new record. 2016 ball parks are part of the same tour  :) while waiting 7 years for a new record. Gigaton support tour would have been similar to Lighting Bolt. Keep in mind Eddie was out touring with the Earthlings in 2022 in addition to the Pearl Jam dates. He was busy. We are talking about a touring history over the last 10 years (or more).  Maybe even bit farther back if there is no record to support. I am not really a statman, I just know we wait and wait for records and tours, and the group is not known for sharing any information until everything is signed, sealed and delivered. There are always rumors of "holds" and negotiations, but most of the time they are they do not turn out to be actual shows. Not trying to be negative, and I hope I am wrong, but these are the facts.

That said, every year the rock festivals throw major dollars at Pearl Jam for 2 hr sets and it is not that hard to speculate they might say yes to one and play a few dates around a festival in 2023 should they choose to play. Let's hope they make a new record soon because historically, that means more shows.

Here’s a tease for people with good eyes  ;). A screenshot I took of the clip I’ve mentioned. I think it says „concert 2023“.
If anyone wants to see the clip I can send it via PM. Don’t want to post it, as it’s not mine.

It would be a fair bet to say they did have plans. I would’ve assumed ending last year that this spring would’ve been South America. Logistically I know it’s been a huge struggle going internationally anywhere. On top of all the struggles they had last year, it’s easy to speculate they just scrapped everything. Regroup early in the year and see what they want to do...

While that is encouraging, that is not a confirmation. It is a good sign though. If the band chooses not to tour, the winner will be awarded when they do (there is always fine print that allows this). This happened at Camden. Speculating is fun  :)
