  • Yes, I am very thankful for the amazing Pearl Jam experiences we have had over the decades.

Yes, I am jealous of fan bases who continue to get more experiences than we do because bands like DMB and Phish live on the road.

Both of those things can be true.

We all know they're on the back 9 of their career.  It feels like we're on hole 17 though, which is a shame because they still have a few peak years left in them.  The window is closing though and they don't seem to have the desire to play many shows while it's still open.  Oh well.  The ride has been fun and life will go on.
Yeah. I’m bummed I didn’t catch them for the first time until Ohana Encore, but that’s my problem rather than theirs. I’m glad for all the great recordings of past shows.

Based on the timeline of years past, we are getting late in the calendar for ballparks to be announced.

Ballparks aren’t happening this year. Too many people are involved when it comes to those ballpark shows, we would’ve 100% known something by now.

I think it is true that past ballpark shows were announced in January of the year.  So sadly you are probably right.  Of course it’s only sad if no ballparks means no shows at all.  Non-ballpark shows are better.

^he's just talking about the chances of a Spring tour & getting us to accept it.

I'll admit, the chances have severely dwindled, but I hold out a sliver of hope for some May shows.

If nada, then I think we're all gonna be a lot happier come September...

Best case scenario they are recording and that’s why they haven’t announced shows

Also logistically to go on tour and make money they’ve got to do at least 10 to 14 shells for a leg and then get the crew together all that stuff I’m sure everybody else has other jobs

Do we know if promoters are still making it a pain in the ass to tour with Covid restrictions and all that?

I wouldn’t want to have to adhere to sitting in my hotel room for hours every day over multiple weeks.

  • I'd love to see an acoustic tour. Smaller venues make tickets harder to come by but maybe a couple nights in each city.

I was thinking the same thing... theatre venue (like Apollo) and do multiple nights...and create special vinyl releases for them. The remodelled Massey Hall in Toronto would be a good place to start ;)

Springsteen just announced a few ballpark shows. Shows in August.  Still time, but yeah, running out soon.

Why would they need to tour, when you guys gobble up every piece of bs merch they throw at you like it's a Honus Wagner card?

It's a fair point. The speed with which those posters sold today was incredible. Santos says "psst" and the race is on.

They don’t need to tour, when they do tour, they want to, which makes a big difference.
  • I think they have enough cash not to tour regardless of whether people buy the merch.

Billy Strings has 64 dates on his rider for this year after announcing his summer tour, as well as 2 appearances for that Leslie Jordan Benefit and Willie Nelson birthday bash. Only 2 of those 64 dates are festivals, and most cities are getting multiple night runs. During August, he literally goes from Newport Folk Fest to Germany to play 3 shows there, then immediately turn around to come back to the US to play Knoxville. Most of his shows recently have been streaming on Nugs in real time, or they're always live on Mixlr if there is no Nugs stream.

Oh, and he has still yet to announce his fall tour.

    Wow

lol, I think they make more from playing a single show, between tickets and merch, then do on the limit edition stuff they sell on the website every year.    Usually the limited stuff is so limited, the overall amount they make on it can't be that huge.   Doing a stadium show probably makes then more money than a few years of selling limited edition merch.

The thing about limited edition merch is they only release so many year and the amount they sell is limited.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they came to Chicago to do a surprise show at the Metro for the venue’s 40 anniversary this year, given how much each institution has meant to each other. Fun fact: if you go into the GMan tavern next door, you’ll see a customized black baseball bat behind the bar from Pearl Jam to Joe Shanahan, the owner of both venues. Given that Metro has already had huge acts like Metallica, Green Day, and Fallout Boy do surprise shows, it wouldn’t be surprising. Actually, makes those United Center shows make more sense.

My guess...the spring tour (and maybe a fall tour) was scrapped in favor of a new album and definitely fall tour.

There's too much side project activity to suggest that the band is working on an album. Painted Shield and now The Rockfords.

On one hand it feels too soon for a new album. On the other it has been three years.
