    the issue is whether or not doj has the courage to actually indict him, bring charges, and try him. i do not have any faith that they are that brave.

    "Not only did President Trump refuse to tell the mob to leave the Capitol, he placed no call to any element of the United States government to instruct that the Capitol be defended," Cheney said. "He did not call his secretary of defense on January 6. He did not talk to his attorney general. He did not talk to the Department of Homeland Security. President Trump gave no order to deploy the National Guard that day. And he made no effort to work with the Department of Justice to coordinate and deploy law enforcement assets. Vice President Pence did each of those things." 

    In audio the committee played, Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows urged him to establish a "narrative" that Trump, not Pence, was in control and calling the shots. Milley said he viewed that request as "politics, politics, politics."

    President wants re-election.   To stay in power.  Loses election.  VP's job is to certify the election.  President does not want VP to certify the election.  A crowd of the president's supporters storm the capital and shout they want to hang Pence.  The President's reaction is to say he deserves it and not to take any action to tell his supporters to go home (or just as president in general to tell people not to riot at the Capitol).

    The statement in it of itself no. If he said that five days later than so be it.  I think the context of when he said it is evidence of his state of mind at the time and his acceptance of the riot versus trying to stop it.  Saying that when Pence is currently at-risk and not doing anything to stop it shows that he is supporting the behavior of the rioters.

    in the united states, is treason a capital offense? back in the uk you would be hanged, drawn, and quartered for it. 

    i am pretty anti death penalty with the exception of cases of treason. i think it should be punishable by blood eagle.

    Treason is the only offense mentioned in the constitution.  But it is assisting an enemy of the United States. What he did is closer to sedition.
