It’s some of Ed’s weakest work as a lyricist in a long time, imo. Maybe hearing the tunes live will make me reconsider. I’ll be at both LA shows so will find out soon enough!igotid88 said:
It doesn't stink thoughheartofadog said:
Oh I actually think the new record stinks and am a little bummed it takes up a third of the set but I also understand that’s the way it works, the same way five dudes in their mid/late 50s might not play a 30 song show the first night back. Definitely wouldn’t say I’m “concerned” but that’s just me.teflonsteve said:
Where did I state I was entitled to a certain amount of songs per show or that I was not going to attend because the shows are a little shorter than in previous years?heartofadog said:
This may surprise you but you’re not actually entitled to a certain number of songs per show. You can always just not go if the setlists start falling short of your criteria.teflonsteve said:
Concerned that we are in for shorter shows going forward. I don't care how long they were on stage for, 23 songs is a short Pearl Jam show.heartofadog said:
They played for two hours and 44 minutes on the first night of a tour after being away for most of the last three years. What is it you’re “concerned” about?teflonsteve said:I guess the days of 30 songs are over. I thought maybe the 2021 shows were shorter due to the festivals but now i'm concerned.
Take a chill pill. Eddie isn't going to send you a love letter for being the great super defender on the message board.1993: Portland, OR (09/06), Seattle, WA (12/07), Seattle, WA (12/08), Seattle, WA (12/09) // 1995: Seattle, WA (02/05) // 1996: Seattle, WA (09/16) // 1997: Oakland, CA (11/19) // 1998: Portland, OR (07/18), Seattle, WA (07/21), Seattle, WA (07/22) // 2000: Bellingham, WA (05/10), Vancouver, BC (05/11), Mountain View, CA (10/31), Portland, OR (11/02), Seattle, WA (11/05), Seattle, WA (11/06) // 2002: Seattle, WA (12/05), Seattle, WA (12/06), Seattle, WA (12/08), Seattle, WA (12/09) // 2003: Vancouver, BC (05/30), Seattle, WA (10/22) // 2005: Quincy, WA (09/01) // 2006: Portland, OR (07/20), Quincy, WA (07/22), Quincy, WA (07/23) // 2009: Berlin, DE (08/15), Seattle, WA (9/21), Seattle, WA (9/22) // 2010: Berlin, DE (06/30) // 2013: Los Angeles, CA (11/23), Los Angeles, CA (11/24), Portland, OR (11/29), Spokane, WA (11/30) // 2018: Seattle, WA (08/10) // 2022: Seattle, WA (02/22), New York, NY (09/10), New York, NY (09/11), Camden, NJ (09/14), Denver, CO (09/22) // 2023: St. Paul, MN (08/31), St. Paul, MN (09/02) // 2024: Portland, OR (05/10), Sacramento, CA (05/13), Los Angeles, CA (05/21), Los Angeles, CA (05/22), Seattle, WA (05/28), Missoula, MT (8/22), Indianapolis, IN (8/26), Chicago, IL (8/29), Chicago, IL (8/31), New York, NY (9/03), New York, NY (9/04), Philadelphia, PA (9/07), Philadelphia, PA (9/09), Baltimore, MD (9/12), Boston, MA (9/15), Boston, MA (9/17), Dana Point, CA (9/27), Dana Point, CA (9/29) // 2025: Hollywood, FL (4/24), Hollywood, FL (4/26), Nashville, TN (5/06), Nashville, TN (5/08), Raleigh, NC (5/11), Raleigh, NC (5/13), Pittsburgh, PA (5/16), Pittsburgh, PA (5/18)0 -
Absolutely. I knew this day would come lol Maybe it's just a sad realization that we are all getting olderigotid88 said:If the Earthlings shows are any indication. It might be this way. But it's only the first show. And it's still a great show.9/20/05 - Quebec City

Ed was extremely talkative tonight and even said that he won’t talk as much at the other shows but this feels like being home. It made for some amazing moments, but for those of you concerned about number of songs, I would take the 2 hours and 44 minutes as more of an indication than the number of songs tonight.0

2 hours and 44 minutes, and 23 songs. Was Porch 45 minutes long?0
-
They were on stage for 2 hours and 44 minutes, Eddie talked A LOT.. Said he won't do so at other shows.. To me sounds like if they're on stage that long that we are likely to get an increase in song count with less talking no? Not sure why others aren't seeing that.0

Surprised nobody has mentioned there were no covers.0

Ed talked alot. More than usual, and thats saying something. Also, Mikes solo on Even Flow felt like it was 20 minutes long. It was Awesome!!!!

This right here. Age is just a number. What I would have been annoyed with is the 50 minute gap between josh and the band going on. Let josh play longer or go on at 8:30.MickeyMouse said:heartofadog said:Oh I actually think the new record stinks and am a little bummed it takes up a third of the set but I also understand that’s the way it works, the same way five dudes in their mid/late 50s might not play a 30 song show the first night back. Every tour it seems like the band needs about five shows to get everything together. It's unfortunate they never play more than twelve shows in a Leg.I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

I am ok with that, it is the 26% Ten that is getting old for me. I am sure it was a great night no matter what and the reverse mamason is awesome. Instead of death, we are alive.0 -
I would guess the opposite. Probably less talking and same number of songs. 2:25-2:30 long show.iamloco724 said:They were on stage for 2 hours and 44 minutes, Eddie talked A LOT.. I think you are right. After all, it's not like songs were scratched off the setlist because they ran out of time.chukdotcom said:

Agreed with this. I think this is their new normal. I don't want to sound gloomy but if this is what each show is going to be like - 22-24 songs without the variety we've come to know and love - then a lot of fans won't see it as worth it to travel far and wide to shows (and I think that's a significant portion of their current fan base). I hope I'm wrong and they're just easing into things but I'm worried...teflonsteve said:

And Ed talked ALOT.0 -

I’d be very disappointed honestly. 23 songs is not it. That’s a festival set at best. Hopefully they’re just easing into the tour.0
