That is where we are staying. I got some feedback from others on the board that said it was ok, nothing fancy, but clean. I appreciate clean.Melzombie said:has anyone ever stayed at Pear Tree Inn? It seems within walking distance The reviews are mixed.. some are decent.. some "meh"
I'm gonna be honest I can't afford the $700 for two nights at the other hotels nearby (Marriott), but then again, I don't want to stay in a dump.0 -
Yes, I believe I mentioned it earlier (can't remember if it was this thread). It's nothing fancy, but it's clean and decent. It's owned by Drury Hotels. It's their economy brand. And they do have a 100% satisfaction guarantee if you do happen to run into an issue.Melzombie said:has anyone ever stayed at Pear Tree Inn? Saw a few comments back somebody said they are staying at the Casino Queen - you may want to rethink that. The Metrolink does go across the river into East St. louis but it's a tough area. The Metrolink in general has had safety issues - especially in the last year. They are increasing security and you don't hear about as many incidents the last few months but I'd still be careful - especially if you go across the river.0

I'm a female coming solo so it's obviously a concern
Flying in and out of Lambert- will have no car. Trying not to use too many Ubers to get around, especially to and from the show... a surcharge nightmare!

I was sent to live and work in the area for a couple months and would get off late at night. I'd often go wandering around downtown in the middle of the night and never had any problems. But it's still downtown St Louis. So you do need to be cautious. Plus, I'm a male, so there's that. However, that's very close to the venue. And there'll be plenty of foot traffic heading to and from the show. Just stick close to groups of concert-goers and you should be okay.Melzombie said:bb4packers said:Saw a few comments back somebody said they are staying at the Casino Queen - you may want to rethink that. You should be safe, just stay near a group of people when you walk around the city.Melzombie said:bb4packers said:Saw a few comments back somebody said they are staying at the Casino Queen - you may want to rethink that. There will be a bunch of people walking back to the hotels in that area after the show, you should be fine. My wife and I are staying at the Peartree Inn too. If needed, after the show you could meet up with us at the arena and walk back with us if it would make you feel safer. **"Not a creeper" alert***Melzombie said:bb4packers said:Saw a few comments back somebody said they are staying at the Casino Queen - you may want to rethink that. I'm at the Fairfield Inn.0

If you're alone, use Ubers from airport to venue. Stay off the MetroLink unless you're with a large group.www.cluthelee.com0

I agree an Uber from the airport to your hotel and back is the way to go. I have rode the Metro all the way from Lambert to Scott alone, and there are some sketchy people on it. I wouldn't want either of my daughters (or son) riding it alone.2-feign-reluctance said:If you're alone, use Ubers from airport to venue. SO worth the added expense, honestly. Long gone are the days in the 90s where drive out to Hanley to park and ride it down for concerts without thinking twice.JeBurkhardt said:

My wife and I are die hard Cubs fans and also considering going to the Reds -Cardinals game since our hotel is right across street. Won't make the call on it until a couple weeks prior , however if something gets put together we may be interested.AdamJNovak said:I suggested this a few pages back, I’m coming from Chicago on Saturday. Thinking about going to the Cards game (even though I’m a Cubs fan), Saturday night. If there’s enough of us that want to go to that game, we can all grab tickets and have a little pre show 10c party at the game!
Seems to be a plethora of tickets for the game available starting at $20.0 -
yikes! even in the mornings/afternoons?JeBurkhardt said:

I guess it isn't like riding the subway in NYC?!? I never felt unsafe riding it.
If that is the case, I need to stay within walking distance to the venue. Less ubers to take.Post edited by Melzombie on0 -
During the day is better, but I would still be really careful, especially if traveling alone. It might have got better than the last time I took it, but there wasn’t much security that I saw.Melzombie said:

During the day is usually better but the issue in STL is almost the opposite of NYC. There aren't enough people riding so while in NYC you may feel like there is safety in numbers in STL you wish there were more people usually. St. Louis just isn't as far along as Indy or Cleveland or some other midwestern cities are in rejuvenating the downtown area. It's gradually coming along but it's been pretty slow. If you stay in the downtown area don't wander north of the dome/convention center and just try and stay near the ballpark/arena area and you will likely be fine. Pretty much common sense stuff. With the Cards in town it should be a good weekend. Cards tickets will be easy by the way - may want to wait and see how the weather is before buying - once school starts in the fall demand really drops - even on the weekends

We're staying at the Pear Tree. Decent price, free parking, free breakfast, and walking distance to the arena.Sometimes you find yourself

I got a much better ticket today than I did with the lottery... wtf?
now I'm freaking out because I now have (2) single tickets for sale.
It looks like this show isn't in a high demand and may get stuck with them
When is the fan to fan sale?

When is the fan to fan sale? What seats did you get in the lottery?F2F probably won't start until next week."I'm a lucky man, to count on both hands the [shows I've done]. Some folks just have one, others they got none..."
