My wife had to have a hysterectomy a few years ago. The doctor/surgeon was her OBGYN at the hospital where the procedure was performed.

Then about six weeks later we get a bill for $80K because our insurance had not been notified ahead of time. The hospital got it worked out but give me a fucking break.

Agree, Gern. There needs to be a profit motivation to get good people and incentivize innovation, but I would love to get rid of the profit margin going to insurance companies somehow.

yeah that's good practice but the lady that checked us in said she would get the approval for us...like I said, the hospital was all over it but it was still shocking.

Worked out? What is there to "work out". You pay insurance and you get care where it allows you to. What was up the Insurance company's ass that it was a thing in the first place? Jeeze...

I wouldn't have paid it. Take me to collections. It doesn't show up on your credit anyways.

insurance company profits + cost is the drag on medical expenses....it's fucked up

uh....you need to review the ACA that passed under Obama/Biden. Massive benefit to lower income people.

One of my friends is a nurse in the Covid ward of a major hospital in Cleveland. She told me most of their current covid patients are unvaccinated, and the vaccinated patients that are hospitalized with covid have other health issues: diabetes, thyroid, heart disease, etc,

Why not offer each American 12500 to go buy their own insurance….

Basically nothing is covered u til you spend 12k out of pocket, then it’s all covered.. This is pretty standard for school districts. And most of the info is public you can look up on their website. So it costs a teacher $1224/month for a family and you have to spend $12k out of pocket before the insurance kicks in.you’d be spending 25k a year before insurance kicks in and covers anything. Not to mention the district is using about 12-15k of their funds to supplement it.
