Pfizer expects $33.5B in sales from COVID-19 vaccine with booster shot in works
Wonder if the 3 jabbers will associate with the 2 jabbers…
I don’t want to argue, don’t want to fight, can’t worry about corporation’s and their money right now because since I had covid in February 2020 my health has suffered tremendously. This virus is treacherous. I’m not a democrat nor a republican, I vote my conscious. If you have not gotten the vaccine please, please get it. That’s it, that’s all I have to say for now. Not looking for pity, just saying this virus is for real. Remember I don’t want to argue because all our lives depend on this getting done.
yeah there has been talk of potentially needing a booster for months
there has, but I'm wary of taking the advice to take a booster from a company who stands to profit immensely from it. I'll wait for independent recommendation.
I am fully vaccinated. I am more interested and suspicious of these drug companies by nature...but suddenly they want us to take a 3rd jab.
Well I’m very happy to hear that and I get what you’re saying. It’s like Jim Jones and his purple kool-aid. Hey I don’t know what’s in that shot I just know it gets me outside, around people I love, people I don’t know….it truly is the definition of freedom (at least for me) And if it’s not as effective as you thought - the drug companies (which obviously it isn’t) then stop sugar coating the truth. I guess it’s because they just don’t know? Politics, trump, Biden, blue, red, it really comes down to trust. And if in ten years we all have 3 heads well at least we’ll all finally look alike.

I'm curious in a jeopardy answer kinda way what Pfizers cost for developement was. What their contracts were worth for the US orders and then balance those against what they expect to earn from the booster program. cuz we are talking a couple billion doses...

as for pfizer, its smart to get ahead as much as possible. given the truncated trial periods, we are in a mass real world trial of the backend effectiveness and the major unknown in varients that have emerged and those yet to come to boot.

It looks like Isreal's academics have updated their Pfizer double dose efficacy of preventing serious illness data (based on delta) down to 80% instead of 90s%.
They also started third doses on immunocompromised last week.
80% is still damn good, isn't it? I might have to talk to my daughter's specialist (immunocompromised 15 year old).
Yes, in the sense that they were originally aiming to get a vaccine with 50% or better efficacy.
We also have an immunocompromised family member and have been communicating with their doctor to get the most recent info and advice; that's the highest-risk group, so talking to the doctor sounds like a smart move.
Edit to add: It sure does seem like a third dose is going to be recommended for that group very soon.

Meanwhile Israel reported a whopping 1 death yesterday to COVID and have averaged under 10 for almost two months now. With an astounding 149 patients currently in serious condition. A country with over 9 million citizens. If they claim 80% then it’s clearly good enough to effectively end the pandemic there. Bottom line, don’t believe everything you read. If they claim all these patients are on ventilators why are none dying? They must have some great ventilators. There have been some ridiculous reports, both good and bad coming out of Israel for a while now. They are about as credible as the CDC or WHO at this point. Hospitalizations and deaths are about the only two metrics I concern myself with anymore. Especially since those numbers are harder to manipulate. Most everything else is just noise at this point.
