update: Last night my wife told me that a doctor dictated that he encouraged a patient to get vaccinated because they were at such high risk if they caught COVID.  The patient said that they "won't do anything the government tells me to do" to which the doctor replied "I am not the government, I am your doctor and you could very likely die."  The patient said they would think about it.

That's how viruses work, but it's also possible were a few mutations away from the virus being less severe.. so who knows.. lol.

It's pretty apparent that herd ummunity isn't going the be thing. You've either got countries like the US that can't get anywhere near enough people vaccinated, or you have the children condundrum, where it's hard to get there without vaccinating kids, but even when they make vaccines available.. not sure parents will let their kids get them.

I do feel that even if a mutation gets around a vaccine, our bodies should still have a rough start on how to fight the virus.   The worst is introducing a new virus into a population that has no immunity to it (like when the Europeans began to arrive in America).   Once there's some basic level of defence the severity might not be as bad.. even if you're not fully immune.

from the reading I've done, virus mutations don't work against the strength of itself. it doesn't get weaker with mutations.

This is obviously great news but still if we just keep vaccinating the same people over and over this does not help the glaring problem that a certain portion of the population will never get any shots.  

vaccine hesitancy/fatigue will only increase with reports like this. people are going to become (more) suspicious of these companies and if it's just a way to sell more product.

exactly....I read this morning that the vaccinated will likely experience very mild symptoms from Delta or be asymptomatic

Which imo is pretty incredible that a vaccine was made before the variant was not even out yet. I have nothing but optimism going forward with this virus and vaccines working.

I am fully vaccinated.  I am more interested and suspicious of these drug companies by nature...but suddenly they want us to take a 3rd jab.

Well I’m very happy to hear that and I get what you’re saying.  It’s like Jim Jones and his purple kool-aid.  Hey I don’t know what’s in that shot I just know it gets me outside, around people I love, people I don’t know….it truly is the definition of freedom (at least for me) And if it’s not as effective as you thought - the drug companies (which obviously it isn’t) then stop sugar coating the truth. I guess it’s because they just don’t know? Politics, trump, Biden, blue, red, it really comes down to trust.  And if in ten years we all have 3 heads well at least we’ll all finally look alike.
