    From what I've read today, the President started interviewing for a replacement a couple of weeks ago. Bush said that he'd put off the decision until after the elections and base it upon the GOP's success. Well, the GOP bombed so Rummy was shown the door.

    BTW, I'm really unimpressed with the dem attitudes here. Instead of hoping for a commission to investigate Iraqi failures, how about we instead concentrate on forming a commission to get us out of the gaggle first. Vindictive fuckers, you are.

    No, he never said he was basing his decision on the success of the election. Rum was gone regardless because he wanted out and had tried before; and ths time is was more convenient for the Bush to refresh.

    Considering I have no insider information, I based that post upon the MSNBC article which was very clear in stating that Bush wanted to gauge GOP success prior to relieving Rummy. If you have a different source with different information, perhaps one of our sources for news is incorrect.
