Also... I get you prefer to be pessimistic.  But Stone’s comment was good news.  It proves that they are open to touring and haven’t preemptively dismissed it as many around here have suggested.

I read Stone's comment to mean that the first order of business will be playing the shows they have postponed.  They will live up to their contractual obligations and probably are very excited to play the Gigaton songs live.  Whenever that may happen.
Mentioning "fall or early winter" also suggests that he is uncertain about the fall. I am cautiously optimistic about it happening but there are so many things that can happen between then and now.

I think we are going to be seeing PJ at SHN this fall. Stone did an interview yesterday and he spoke about touring in the fall and winter. See the link.

Of course, Stone’s exact quote about touring in the fall begins and ends with him saying that is what he hopes will happen, not that it is something that he currently knows will happen.

Stone: “my hope is that we'll start playing some shows in the fall or early winter. I don't know what they're gonna be or when they're gonna be, but that's my hope.”
I get your point but you could apply that to every single future event.  We all hope to be here tomorrow but no one actually knows if it will happen.  At the very least, it indicates that the band has not dismissed out of hand playing in the fall. Which is good news.
No, it doesn’t apply to every future event under normal circumstances. That’s ridiculous. He said it specifically because we’re in a pandemic. If Pearl Jam has scheduled tour dates and a band member is talking about those upcoming dates they don’t say “gee, I hope we can play them.” They say “we’re playing dates in the fall.”

I’m also very hopeful they can play in the fall but words have meaning and what Stone said is clear.
It actually does apply to every future
event.  You just don’t normally see it that way.  The pandemic has made us view the future more cautiously and with an appreciation for how little control we have over future events.  But in reality it’s always been like that.
This reminds me of something I read several years ago, though the specific quote escapes me. In a book titled “Quitting the Nairobi Trio,” the author says that the act of WAITING is OPTIMISTIC, because it requires the believe that the thing you’re waiting for WILL HAPPEN.

And here we are. Waiting. Because we BELIEVE  things will change for the better.

Its the first piece of news about a possiible show this year. Maybe it's SHN or Ohana, maybe not, all depending on the states. At least there is a ray of hope! Thanks for being positive.

In no way am I pessimistic. I can’t wait for the shows and am optimistic we are coming out of this. Starting this weekend, I will be resuming attending many great events. Hell, I flew to the World Series during a pandemic.

But I am a realist and again, words have meaning. Of course, they are open to touring. They are chomping at the bit to return to touring, as is every person in the entertainment industry who has been sidelined during the last 14 months. I can tell you from experience that people having been “hoping’ to resume many times now throughout these times. Up til now, those have all come and gone. And that informs his comments as to why he’s hopeful for the fall. Obviously we are getting closer to resuming(hopefully) but as we saw with BST, people here can twist anything into “clues” that the event was happening. Well, BST didn’t happen and we will see about Ohana and SHN in the days ahead. Hopefully the outcome will be different.

I'm sure they will be available.
They were in good supply before they pushed to 2021.  I was pissed because I bought when they only had two shows and my seats were not great.
Ended up refunding with a bunch of shows....only thing we kepts were two pairs of MSG Pearl Jam.
