Still waiting on Blanton's Gold and EHT 18 Year Marriage to hit Chicagoland.  Both were supposedly targeted for June.

I'm a newbie: best Scotch's for under $50.  Also, best online site to buy.  Thanks all!

I'm not that well versed, but I like Glenlivet 12 year at that price point.  Real good scotch imo

^ I think timing is purely coincidental because they announced the release in Feb. US customers have been bitching for a while and Buffalo Trace finally listened. It will continue annually in limited releases.
    ISO
    LOL...same

When I was frequenting the FBbourbon groups before they were shut down there were people peddling them for 120 a bottle.  Most people said it wasn't worth the extra coin and just settle for the reg.  I'd like to try it though.

Maybe I can ship you a taste from Canada. I can label it maple syrup. Lol
I kept reading about an alternate version of Aberlour 12 that was non chill filtered.  Our selection here in Canada (at least in BC) is fairly limited.   Our rules our so strict no one will try to ship whisky into Canada.   The good news is I have a friend who lives in Texas.  Turns out Texas has some protectionist laws to prevent liquor from be mailed in State.  Found a website in Norway that would ship it to Texas.   Figured, why not try.   I order it a few weeks before I get there for a visit.  They labeled it as Saline (Sodium Chloride).   Lol!!!

I'm also really missing Glenronach 12 here.  I really like the Speyside stuff that's aged in Sherry casks.  You can't buy the real Macallan 12 here, Glenronach is gone.  I love Dalmore but it's pretty expensive.  Balvenie is pretty expensive here too.

I end up drinking alot of the regular Aberlour 12 :)
@Zod  Have you tried this Glenlivet in the Cognac cask?  It’s f’n delicious.  Found it at the Janes Bay - BC Liquor store.

I absolutely loved it!  I know you won’t  believe me but I like it best with no ice.  I think that is called “neat”?

Oh man, that must be delicious. I’ve only been able to get the small batch, single barrel and rye. All are great and can only imagine how nice that Barrel proof must be.
I don’t think you can go wrong with buffalo trace.
I just picked up a bottle of blantons special reserve last week. Surprise to see it on the shelf in Toronto.

The price of these bottles on the secondary has been ridiculous.  Even in the stores that have them it's insane.

I won't be dropping 200 for these when they used to be had for 60 tops.

    I liked it.
I'm not a whiskey drinker of any sort but have been slowly learning to like and appreciate some of the different varietals.

    No, it is not.
The beer was alright.  The bourbon was really bad.

Here's what you do to replicate it.  Get a super cheap bottle of bourbon and dump two pounds of brown sugar in it.  Mix it up...you now have PJ bourbon.
