I think I may be one of the only avid runners that doesn't use a running app.  Maybe I should step into the 21st century.

Anyone tried that zombie running app?
I haven’t tried that one. But it sounds like it might be fun. I will look into it.

Nope. When I need a little motivation to get out move my butt, I’ll watch one of David Goggins “motivational” talks. He’s not for everyone, he’s a bit of nutter, but sometimes it’s what I need to hear to get going.

Hey all, it's me - Formerly MF117973. Finally changed my screen name to something more interesting. Just wanted to post this message in the threads I post to most often so you will know it's me. GlowGirl has arrived.
  • Gonna try to run tomorrow before work . But I am not a morning person.
    How's the running going? @Spiritual_Chaos

I don’t know why but sc is banned.  Hopefully our Swedish buddy is back soon.
I m down four pounds this week, more elliptical combined with weight lifting and diet change seem to be working. 23 pounds to go. :)
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......
  • Well done @mcgruff10 - I'm happy to have read your update particularly in SC's absence.... 4 pounds is a lot to loose in 1 week. I think they recommend 1 to 2 pounds a week, however what you're doing seems to be working so keep going :)

I might have lost a couple of pounds over the past month by improving my diet and keeping busy. I'm trying to stick to 3 meals a day and include protein  which is supposed to keep you full longer.  Do keep us all posted on your progress.

On a related note over the past year or two one of my neighbours has dropped about half his body weight by regular walking. I used to enjoy spinning and weights classes, but it's great that people can find out what suits them and make it work for them :)

I lost 15 pounds this week.
Fasting & running will do that.

I also will put back on 10-12 over the next week.  Been doing this every quarter for 2 years and my body holds onto everything it can.  (Point is not weight loss, so I don't care about that.)

GlowGirl.  Well, why did you pick that name?

Did you drink at all this week?  Honest question because I have not had a sip since the Fourth of July.  It is amazing how many calories are in alcholol.

No when I fast I only drink water.  Nothing else goes in except water for five days.
I won't drink tonight because I run in the morning but tomorrow evening I'm a gonna get funked up!

And, good for you.  I do a sober month the past few years and I like it.  I tend to snack a lot so I don't lose weight but at least I don't drink for thirty days and give my liver a time out.

I was deciding on a few names, but chose this one. It is the name of a bizarre little Who song. Plus, I am simply radiant =) .

I stopped drinking back in September. I dropped close to 15 pounds in 6 weeks or so. The weight loss leveled off after that, but hasn’t came back either.

Have any of you every used those deep tissue massage guns. I was looking at the Hypervolt - but is so expensive. Just not sure it is worth it. I used to get deep tissue massages monthly before the pandemic. So, I have never used the massage guns. Amazon had one called Opove M3 Pro that was much less expensive. If any of you use one, is it worth it. Does it help? I have been getting really tired hamstrings when running lately, and thought this may help. I also maybe just need a roller. I haven't been using one since the gym has closed.

A certain board member (and friend!) sent me a Hypersphere massaging/vibrating ball.  I don't know if it qualifies as deep-tissue, but it helps a good deal when my back is spasming.

***It's amazing how much weight one can lose just by stopping booze and going with water...well, for me, anyway ;)

AND, holy shit!  I haven't listened to Glow Girl since I was one myself
  • Yeah, lots if water and no alcohol, that's the one isn't it.

I think you are still a Glow Girl, Hedonist. According to the Urban Dictionary:

Someone with a positive vibrant energy.
Usually a girl who brightens up a room full of people with her charisma and positive energy. This is what brings joy to others.

The Who song is a whole different story though. Strange song. Pete Townshend describes it as "Well, it was a reincarnation song and it was about a plane crash and two kids on an aeroplane and they realize that the plane's crashing. The reincarnation ploy comes at the end, where you hear 'It's a girl, Mrs. Walker, it's a girl. When I came to write Tommy, I picked up that phrase and used it as the opening. That's how Tommy became Tommy Walker, just because in this song which was worked on two years before, we had a little girl."

But to maintain thread integrity - Thanks for the info on the Hypersphere. I will check it out. I really need to work more on my muscles after exercising. I am ignoring them too much, and now they are complaining.

Not on a fast, that is water only

I just slaughtered some ribs and corn bread and Coleslaw.  Ready for a nice five mile run in the early am.
