I completely overdid it on running over the past 12 months, doing about 10km 7 days a week, on hard surfaces. I'm easing off currently. It's painful.Dublin 2006

I dated a subfertile bodybuilder once (oh, how I love sexy abs). He swears the fastest way to shed flab/pounds quickly is running.
Keep it up!I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef
Animals were hiding behind the Coral
Except for little Turtle
I could swear he's trying to talk to me

I was a runner in my teens and twenties and then stopped because of knee pain. I assumed it was joint pain but much later in life found out it was due to lack of stretching of my quads. In January 2019 I broke my ankle while climbing. A series of complications including infection, delayed bone union and incorrect advice from a novice physiotherapist meant I was in a cast for much longer than was ideal, and came out of it with major muscle wasting, joint stiffness and reduced bone density. I worked pretty hard on my rehab and got the ankle/leg back to about 95% of where I wanted it to be, but I wanted as much recovery as possible, so in about February of this year I decided to take up running again to basically force more healing and function. For the first several runs, my ankle started hurting after about 30 minutes of running and would still hurt the next day. Then it was only hurting while I ran and stopped after. Now it doesn’t hurt at all and both legs feel equally strong and bouncy. So, mission accomplished!Plus it’s funmy small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0

Running hurts. Ive been walking a lot but not the same level of cardio. I dont get anything from it. Only really the sights i see and that is beautiful sometimes. Like wildlife which i love. Get outdoors is the main thing i guess. Have you ever ran/jogged before S.C

I was pretty fast on 60-100 metres when I was like 14-17. But could never run longer than that.

I was into lifting for many years. Started to get more into power lifting and end up injuring my right shoulder and had to easy off. Last winter, I was introduced to the world of David Goggins and started running. Bought a treadmill since it’s too fucking cold in Minneapolis/St Paul to run outside in the winter.
Now I am running 3-5 miles outside, at least 4 times a week. Try to get going around 5:30am. At first it was for the cardio, now it’s a way to clear the head. Generally no music, if I do, it’s just ambient stuff (the last two NIN Ghost albums are great).
One important thing is to buy a pair of quality running shoes. When I first started I was running in some cheap Nike gym shoes which killed my feet/knees. Currently running on Hoka Cliftons. Makes a world of difference.0 -
Agree on shoes. They don't have to be fancy but they need to match you - and be recycled somewhat frequently.
Brooks Ghosts are my shoes of choice. The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
I'm pretty good at jiggity jogging. You know, that thing you do when you can't sleep so you kind of rock back and forth on one side.
