We drove past the CHOP entrance at - I think - 12th and Pine yesterday, when we were in town. I could see a lot of people, touristy types mainly, taking selfies at the barricades. When we carried on driving around Capitol Hill, I could see that quite a few of the local businesses such as the bars were open and doing good trade (maybe even out of the increased foot traffic). I don't know what the CHOP area is really like at night but it certainly didn't look at all menacing in the daytime.

I wonder if it will be like San Francisco's Haight Ashbury was (and even to an extent, still is) in the 60's and will draw young people from all across the country and even the world? Young people looking for something new, curious to experience something different? This could be the beginning of a new cultural era. If so, I say, good! It's about time! The hippie/ black power era followed closely on the heals of the beats. It's taken a long time for a new cultural evolution to unfold.

Clearly, not social movement is ever going to be 100% perfect. But what percentage of people in CHOP do you suppose are armed (minus those with permits to carry- not that I'm a fan of people being armed), this is, after all, Washington we're talking about? In America, a powder keg is always a possibility. Which would suck because 10's, 100's, maybe even thousands more people would acquire tinnitus at best, be dead at worst. Both suck. I'm hoping rather than shit blowing up, CHOP produces some valuable lessons for society or, better yet, change for the better in the way we live. Sometimes good shit happens. But we have to have the will to live, or as Neil said, the will to love.

Like I’ve said, forget about left and right. Humans are not civilized enough for this. I can’t see it ending well. It’s amazing how even CHAZ has become a partisan thing. Don’t show anything bad if you’re on this side, show only the bad if you’re on the other. What a weird thing. When the wolves come out, all these “abolish the police” fools will be running for any cop in sight to help out.0

Doesn’t seem too responsible....why would they need guns? They obviously are not doing background checks...Ledbetterman10 said:

Washington State is open carry right? And the Faux news photoshop of “armed guards” was proven to be bullshit. Why now, in CHAZ or CHOP, which the right constantly proclaims as lawless, is it an issue for citizens to legally open carry? I’m on the record as being opposed to any side open carrying. It’s like some posters are just dying for blood to be spilled and mayhem to ensue. That said, what’s your point other than there’s guns present? Pretty much like in a lot of America, some places more than others. I guess it’s a lot more like Bundyism and libertarianism then? But next jimjam goes to Seattle, s/he will restore order?Ledbetterman10 said:
