What I would like to see from the people I've seen in the press who want things open again right now, today, so the economy can recover is a written list of their own family members they're willing to sacrifice to that end. Name names. Who are you willing to give up from your own family -- not mine.

Other than an extremely narrow fringe, no one is advocating for things to be "open again right now." The debate is over when states should begin this first phase of loosening up.

There are huge physiological implications to keeping things locked down, also. Exacerbation of behavioral health issues, domestic violence, and chronic medical conditions chief among them. With 33 million people unemployed, how many more people will be struggling with homelessness over the next year and beyond? There is no side of this argument that wouldn't involve people making a list if that's what we're doing.
Following up on this point from a couple days ago with the CNN article below. There are no easy answers and unfortunately every path is going to come with a human toll. The vast majority of people want to minimize suffering; if we don't agree on the path it's because there is still a lot of uncertainty.

A follow up to my follow up. Very good opinion piece in the NY Times today.

And where was Bernie? MIA, didn't even bother to show up or if he did, not cast a vote. Could have shown real leadership but didn't. And he wants to be POTUS? Guess he wasn't a dem after all.

I read several articles, hoping one would explain why he missed the vote. Haven't seen an answer anywhere. I'd hate to judge too harshly if it turned out he was in the hospital or something. It's frustrating because this seems like the exact sort of power that should be kept out of the Trump administration's hands. Never mind that 9 GODDAMN DEMOCRATS voted it down.

Those 9 GODDAMN DEMOCRATS are on record and can be questioned on their motives and why they voted the way they did and then be held accountable at the ballot box, if it’s such a berning issue for their state’s voters. Bernie not so much. Those 9 GODDAMN DEMOCRATS have more spine than that faux dem will ever have.

Whether it's Republicans railing against FISA or Democrats screaming about fascism, remember that it's all theater and they will always ultimately vote to expand their power. Failed by one vote with 9 Dems voting against and Bernie not voting.

    I believe it's this bill.

Voted against an amendment to the Patriot Act that would have blocked law enforcement from searching or looking at your web browsing history without a warrant. It was added as part of the Patriot Act re-authorization.

So while I may disagree with the 9 D senators that who voted 'ney' on this issue, at least they took a stand.  I don't know enough of the details to really cast the stone on where I would personally vote, but I know there are plenty of center/left Ds who are security conscious.  I can live with that.  There's no reason for a senator to skip such a key and high profile vote.  This isn't post office naming here.

This is the extent of what I could find (from a Slate piece). Given the significance, it would be swell if someone from his camp addressed this.
