To many, these are the greatest two Pearl Jam songs ever. Quintessential Pearl Jam and the two songs even most casual fans enjoy. Black is much older but still gets regular radio play. Mr Guitar, on the other hand, has clearly been the band's breakthrough hit of the 21st Century, garnering them hundreds of thousands of new fans including former president, Barack Obama. 

Let's finally put this question to rest: Which is the better song, Black or Johnny Guitar?

    it boggles the mind how there is still a question this many years after the release of JG.  Fortunate enough to catch this live - maybe the lack of live performances is what has led some to vote for "Black"?

    Sometimes, late at night,when I’m spinning JG for the 3rd or 4th time of the evening, I think the song belongs on Abbey Road or Exile on Main Street. As great as Backspacer is, it’s overmatched by JG.
