Had to cancel the trip because I had a highly contagious infection and didn't want to spread it knowingly so I stayed home. Nobody dies from getting chicken pox that I've heard but I stayed home to stop the spread.
The people on that ship need to understand that them staying put helps stop the spread of something that can actually kill people.
It's an inconvenience, yes but it can also be life saving.
I am not worried about contacting the virus should I get it, I'll survive, it's the other people that can't fight off the virus that I would be afraid for. It wouldn't sit well with me knowing I spread something that could potentially kill someone.
You would only spread something if you disobeyed the direction of the medical personnel and went out and about on your daily routine. Are you advocating for those people who are self-isolating to be collectively held? Maybe under armed guard?I also said I’d be mad at them (govt) fornot having a plan.Should I not be mad then if I was placed in a hospital under quarantine or that’s acceptable?
So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!
You tell me? Personally, I'd rather be in a hospital knowing I'm getting medical care, if needed/required, rather than being stuck on a cruise ship with no end in site and no information about my immediate future, and worried about all the shit I have at home to deal with, you know, mortgage payments, car payments, utility bills, because I'm sure the Team Trump Treason Response Team has that part figured out too. Or, allow me to self-isolate at home.
Some people's defense of this idiot in chief is astounding.
Someone posted that the crew is sick. That I did not know. That changes it a bit then since the people could not very well fend for themselves. I can change my mind after hearing more facts.0 -

SO my thoughts:
1) Cruises can be fantastic vacations.
2) I honestly can't believe we didn't learn the lesson from the other cruise ship. I can't believe I agree with halifax...but there should have been a plan in place once we saw what happened in Japan. A plan to get people off the boat into other isolation areas. Still sucks for them, but you reduce the size of the overall group. You don't rely on cruise staff to all of a sudden become medical professionals and wear and manage their PPE properly.
I've heard interviews with many people in isolation and it seems that there are so many minor cases of this. This is just about everywhere already, we just aren't testing for it. Most of the people interviewed, despite the news anchors best attempts to make it a dramatic thing, talk about having a minor cough and getting tylenol and gatorade as they only "medicine".hippiemom = goodness0 -

Get off my lawn.
Only reason I went is because 50 of my family members went.

“I’d rather have the people stay, but I’d go with them. I told them to make the final decision.”
“I would rather because I like the numbers being where they are,” Trump continued. “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault. And it wasn't the fault of the people on the ship either, okay? It wasn't their fault either and they're mostly Americans. So, I can live either way with it. I'd rather have them stay on, personally.”
Not sure why this is an issue?
In what world would cruise ship health care be better than that of the California medical system?
In what world should the CDC not be prepared to handle this situation?
In what world would you think that your parents or children should be left quarantined on a cruise ship rather than getting care as a US citizen?
Have you all checked your empathy at the door?
Second, I suppose that one could reasonably argue for keeping them on the ship. Two things:
1. They are citizens and we should make every effort to get them onshore and cared for and/or quarantined in a way fitting of the wealthiest nation the world has ever seen.
2. The majority of the sick people are the actual crew.. the ones that feed, clean and keep people in their cabins. We need to get our citizens off the ship.
But I think I was mistaken, I compared these with previously quarantined people in a hospital. Those were people who did have the virus, not just people who potentially came in contact with someone.
I could see both sides. I think just transporting these people home and asking them to stay there introduces a big risk. Are we going to hire private shuttles to prevent anyone from coming in contact with them if we let them off the ship? Or just let them call an Uber to get home, or ride the public shuttle to the parking kot?
On the other hand I think the fear of this virus is grossly over-hyped. But if I am wrong and every measure to prevent its spread should be taken, and that includes a mandatory and enforced quarantine of a whole ship, then staying on the boat seems most practical and effective.0 -

FRONTENAC, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The family of the St. Louis County woman who tested positive for COVID-19 broke quarantine and attended a father-daughter school dance Saturday evening at Villa Duchesne, County Executive Sam Page said.
Page said the family was asked to self-quarantine on Thursday, March 5, after the young woman called the county's health hotline and told them her symptoms. However, Page said the father took his other daughter to a father-daughter dinner dance with Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School (VDOH) at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton on Saturday.
In a letter to parents, VDOH officials said the father and daughter didn't learn of the diagnosis until after they were already at the dance. They left the dance immediately after.

Sunday afternoon, Page said the coronavirus patient has been acting responsibly and maturely but her father “did not act consistently with the health department’s instructions and instead ... he decided to take his daughter to a school function."
Page said the county learned about the father-daughter dance on Sunday and officials told the man "to stay home or they will issue a formal quarantine that will require him and the rest of his family to stay home by the force of law."
Early Sunday evening, John Burroughs School officials sent a letter to parents saying the father and sister of the infected woman attended an event at the home of a Burroughs family on Saturday before going to the dance. Several other people went to the same home that same night. The school said all those people have been contacted.

Only one to two drops? Wow! Do you put it in water or juice?
