Another debate Trudeau is missing.  What’s the cowherd afraid?  His record?  His racism?

Just a quick update then we can get back to politics, thanks again everyone.

After 18 and a half hours she was discharged and is doing much better, now she needs to make some changes to her habits. I shared your comments and she says thanks as well.

I probably won’t rejoin the discussions until tomorrow (something about famous last words applies I suspect, lol). My brain’s still not firing on all cylinders, so I’d rather hold back a minute (some might suggest I’ve always got a misfiring cylinder anyways, lol).

So thanks again everyone, it’s moments like this that justify paying membership dues here (in addition to following one of my favourite bands, lol). Thanks also to HFD for sharing in another thread, the song put a lump in my throat and a sniffle in my nose, in a good way.

    All the best, Sandy.

you're most welcome. his music isn't always my cup of tea, but often times when it is, it has the same effect.

  • Haven’t posted here in a while, mostly because I don’t want to be a part of the divisive nature of politics anymore. People just aren’t listening to each other....
But I wanted to say I’m not a fan of these gun lobbyists trying to tell me that my personal freedom is tied to whether or not I have the right to own a military assault rifle.  My right is to be in public and feel safe that one whack job doesn’t open fire on me and a bunch of strangers around me.
While all parties and their leaders have faults, the fact that the Liberals are promising to outlaw ownership of these to civilians has me thinking. I’m not a fan of the Mr. Dressup and SNC scandals, but Cyril Scheer is in the pocket of the fun lobbyists and is making promises to circumvent the Canadian legal system to get pipelines approved and that rhetoric doesn’t fly with me.
I just don’t feel Elizabeth May is a true leader although I strongly support climate change initiatives.
I wish the NDP inspired me more. All the promises are about spending more money, and that will become problematic. Just my opinions.

As Minassian’s trial is about to start, a transcript of his four hour initial police interview has been released, showing him to be deep in the incel culture.

Surely Mr. "mentally unstable" Bernier is not at a climate march?

Reportedly the RCMP will today release their report on the homicides that led to the search for the two fugitives this summer.

I agree with Singh - I hope he gets impeached, too, and I don’t have a problem with Singh saying it. In the unlikely event that he gets elected and trump is still president, could be a little awkward, though.

Trudeau and Scheer would both have to become incapacitated or die for Singh to be elected, honestly. Sad but true.

So how 'bout this news about Scheer having a dual Canada/USA passport???? That seems like a big deal to me, but it's not getting much attention, really. Can you imagine if it was Trudeau and not Scheer? The Con voters would be losing their minds, lol. Or even worse, if it was Singh? Or imagine it was Singh with a Canada/India dual citizenship! People would be losing their shit. But FWIW, I really don't think a PM should have dual citizenship. It could create conflicts of interests, obviously. I wouldn't be okay with this no matter who it was.

    Dual citizenship doesn't bother me.

I've been hearing things about Scheer's slim resume though. I haven't really been paying attention but it sounds like before politics the man never really had a real job. I admittedly heard it second hand so maybe someone else has more info about him that could clear it up. I did a quick google search and found nothing.

Before politics it looks like he never had a full time job. Yikes.

I agree.  No Canadian politician should have dual citizenship.  But unlike the US I don’t think most Canadians feel this is an issue...likely because lots of Canadians have dual citizenship.  The Green Party leader is an American.   I have not heard any criticism directed at her.

If I was ever going to entertain voting for Scheer then his resume would bother me, but as I am not, it’s just another minus on his balance sheet.

I’m unsure on the relevance of the dual citizenship. Yes, the potential for bias and divided loyalties is there, but I think anyone going through all the trouble to run and get elected in Canada likely has fairly strong allegiance to Canada, and if not, it would probably become obvious.

According to CBC Sheer has criticized other politicians with dual citenship.  Neither Trudeau or Sheer are who they say they are.  But here we go again...another 4 years of liberal/con rule.

Canada needs a legit 3rd party that will straddle the middle...not to far right or left...another Chrétien and Martin duo would suit me fine.
