If the Democratic party is really so fragile that it implodes over the activism of four members, then maybe it deserves to fail. If the voters can't tell the difference between comments made by individual party members and party policy, then that says a lot, too.

    Trump is what Trump is.

This isn't even about him anymore.  He is 100% reflective of the dominant party and, frankly, is a reflection of what we are.  That it's even possible (and, come on, it's probable) that he's going to win again, is all you need to know about America.

It's not about Trump.  It's about us.
Defeatist NONSENSE.  This is ALL ABOUT HIM.  He's a piece of shit.
He is absolutely a piece of shit.

But it says something about us that he is our president.  And even more that he's probably going to be re-elected.  He reflects America more than we want to admit.
what actual facts are you basing that on?

He has none. The facts are he's got big problems in all the states that magically swung his way in '16

Haha. You gotta stop it with this "he's probably going to be re-elected" nonsense. There's no metric to show that. If anything, he's more likely than most other incumbents to lose re-election.The fact that this is the case with the economy the way it is speaks to how severely disliked he is among most Americans.

He has one the lowest job approvals in recorded history. But, more importantly:
He's underwater big time in the states he needs to win:
    https://morningconsult.com/tracking-trump/
    -3 net approval in Florida
    -9 net approval in Pennsylvania
    -15 net approval in Michigan
    -7 net approval in Ohio
    -14 net approval in Wisconsin
-3 net approval in South Carolina
Heck, Texas and Georgia might even be in play at this point.
If the economy is still reveling then he gets re-elected, yes.
That is a big if at this point...and if the election was held today he'd probably lose. Those numbers above are fucking horrible for him.
The fed is going to lower interest rates and another boom will happen.

He was not the popular vote last time but he won.

I just don't see anyone beating him at this point.

Look at his approvals in those swing states, dude. '16 doesn't matter because he's not going to run against one of the worst nominees in history again. People are tired of him at this point.

Also, don't be so sure the fed is going to save him. It doesn't make sense to cut rates right now and it will bite him (and, thus us) in the ass:
    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/el-erian-federal-reserve-rate-cut-complex-124405962.html
    • The more the central bank does now, the less room it will have to cut later if domestic economic momentum wanes. (Remember, the current US economic expansion is already an unusually long one, having also set a new record less month.)

    • The greater the policy easing, the stronger the signal to investors and traders to expand their risk appetite even more – and this at a time when several indicators of excessive risk-taking are already flashing yellow if not red.

    • With easing unlikely to have much beneficial economic effects, corporate and economic fundamentals will lag further already-elevated asset prices, thereby accentuating threats of future financial instability that could cause economic harm.

    • The more the Fed stimulates when the economy is in a good place, the more it will be seen as succumbing to undue pressures from markets and the White House. This could damage its credibility and undermine the effectiveness of its future policy guidance.

Many can't and I attribute some of the "credit" to the propaganda masters at Fox News (and all the conservative outlets that follow their lead). I watch Hannity from time to time (I like him as a performance artist more than I do as a political commentator) and he's constantly attributing comments made by AOC (or any "rouge" democrat) to the entire party. He'd have you believe that AOC's "squad" has taken over the Democratic Party and are calling the shots. Of course that's nonsense, but he gets that ball rolling, then all the online or lesser-known conservative commentators follow his lead (because the Republicans are a pretty united front when it comes to propaganda), and before you know it, there's people that think that it's the stance of the Democratic Party that the world will end in 12 years because of cows farting.

We must have different definitions of imploding.  That word sounds quite final.  I'd call it more of a spat.

That’s kind of my point. People are talking like the sky is falling with this infighting. I don’t believe it is, but if it is, then the party has far more problems than with the “squad” that it needs to address.

The right is simply doing a bang up job of making it seem like it is, and far too many people are willing to let that work on them.

That's what they do best. They had Nancy Pelosi as their boogeyman for decades. Now they've got a gang of four boogeywomen to choose from.
