if trump has done anything, he's proven the system of checks and balances doesn't actually apply to the president, unless the party in power are actually patriots and not parisans when it comes down to brass tacks. he can do whatever the fuck he wants and no one is stopping him.
Bingo. The checks are only as good as those doing the checking. The GOP Senate has completely abdicated their responsibility and are just as responsible as Drumpf for our current shit show.

A firm donated $750,000 of fireworks to Trump's Fourth of July show — and Trump scrapped planned fireworks tariffs the same day

It's interesting to me that he didn't even mention Amash's name. Usually, Trump has a tendency to call out his 'foes' by name followed by a petulant nickname to assign. I wonder if this is a rare situation where a campaign advisor managed to influence Trump to realize that drawing attention to your enemies (who are friends of your friends) would be a bad idea.

The weather is terrible here in the mid Atlantic.  Probably rain until 9. So it might go that everything gets canceled but fireworks.  That would be so fitting.

Nepotism is bad...particularly when Beavis and/Butthead write the speeches.
