Maybe Tiffany Trump has a better perspective on this than any of us.
You can say that for all of his kids except the young one. His ex wives raised all of them.

    So just to be clear.....

For some on here, and for a lot of people in this country,  it is okay for the currently elected president to insult and make fun of just about anyone he can think of. To be an anti-constitution racist xenophobe.

But Michelle Obama makes an attempt at a humorous analogy and people's  panties get knotted up?

Remember when Fox News freaked out over Obama taking selfies in the Oval Office? Or the time they lost their shit over him wearing a tan suit?

Oh for fucks sake this is the same lame excuse I see all the time. It’s a separate issue. Based on your comment, anyone can say anything to anyone ... I mean trump is worse so ...

What does that mean? Did you want people to all agree on the meaning of the statement or are you now dismissing an opposing view as a biased irrational hypocrisy? I personally found nothing wrong with her statement. I think you're pushing for something that isn't there. I mean, she could have just said Trump is a pile of shit, but that would have really got people worked up. I think she used an appropriate analogy and I still don't think it was meant to be humorous, but that's how it's being portrayed now as some ill informed apologists try to dismiss it as such even though it's a serious depiction.
    It's a hopeless situation...

What hypocrisy? Just because trump says stupid shit means nobody is allowed to be offended by anything else? Especially when it is a Democrat? (Fyi, I voted twice for her husband)

That would be healthier. Good suggestion, but I’m not very good at it.

ok - so you didn’t see anything wrong with it.  I do, not a big deal cause I know her intentions are true. She is just so polished and calculated that this seemed way out of place for her. I don’t like the fact that it’s ok to make fun of divorced dads as if they are all deadbeats. Personally I think she used “divorced” when she meant “deadbeat”.

The sweet irony oozing throughout this thread is just delicious.
i gotta say, juggler, i don't see any irony at all. i don't see trump supporters coming in here and flaming some type of faux outrage. i see a poster who, as far as i know, is usually fairly bi-partisan, looking for a non-dramatic discussion, and for some reason you are using my2hands' playbook and shouting that everyone is freaking out when literally no one is. this is the type of stuff that the right freaks out at all the time; the hypocrisy of the left. the left, especially some people here, constantly throw around the "whataboutism" nonsense, and that's all i see here. this can't be discussed without bringing up how horrible trump is for some reason. yes, the comment was about him. but it wasn't referencing the way he talks about people using stereotypes, which is what michelle did.

i respect michelle a great deal, which is why this comment surprises me. it doesn't surprise me because of who is in the white house, it surprises me because of how said it.

now, say it with me: no one in this thread is outraged about this. cincy stated it several times that he's not upset about it, just a discussion.

we need to try to look at things from an objective lens, not the lens of always comparing everything to something trump did.
