Dude George Will is late to the game. Last republican I voted for was Romney. And I voted for Obama before that. I haven’t voted for a republican candidate at the national or state level since 2008 other than Romney. Probably have a few local ones but honesty I don’t recall, I was mainly voting against incumbents since 2012.

I agree about Trump. I don’t about all trump supporters. I have good friends, some of which I’ve had heated disagreements with and some that we just avoid the topic.  But these are solid great people. I’m trying to understand why they voted for him, and then the ones that are still supporting him why is that? I honestly don’t think they have a good answer and hope they turn it around. Mostly it’s because they hate politicians and see him as disrupting the status quo. And I think that they are so removed from where trump is doing most of his damage that they can ignore stuff they shouldn’t. I still think many will come around. 

I just dont find what you are doing to be helpful in changing people like them minds. I find it creates the fight or flight response and people double down. And I’m worried that this is going to lead to another 4 yeaes if trump. Would that be your fault? I guess not, it’s still theirs but your attacks, etc certainly aren’t helping.  I’m concerned because in the primaries I see it appears the Dems are moving farther left. In my opinion that move hurts their chances in an election and could cost us. It also creates more topics where they are moving farther and farther away from my beliefs. So that sucks.

So not sure where you think I’m against the “piling on”. But he still doesn’t call all trump supporters “vile human beings”. Some yes, and I’m my opinion there certainly are plenty that are. But all people that voted for trump are either mindless or vile? Either with us or against us? That’s nonsense.

i also come here for discussions. To learn from others, to provide my opinions. And what you do takes away from that.

I am under no illusion that I’m changing anyone’s mind. I’m sticking up for my side and making my case. If someone comes along and changes their perspective, fine, it’s a bonus. It is not my primary concern to change their mind, they are lost as I believe Digin’ has posited. I’m simply throwing up a different view point, usually backed by links or source information to back my position or help you understand why I believe what I do. I also don’t suffer the fools lightly who rely upon stupid memes, personal anecedotes or personal homilies as fact based argument. I’m going to call them out and when its repube or faux news talking points even more so. They can double down on their factless position. Its hilarious and just goes to show how misinformed or unknowing they are. My faith is in the young people, not the middle aged white folk who are afraid of going to hell for baking a wedding cake for a gay couple. The young people I know are open to all, are educated on the issues, are sick and tired of the gun massacres and are welcoming. The ridicule of the Parkland students who have started a movement after witnessing the horror of gun violence is appalling, some on here even piling on. I’ll bet they have never witnessed such horror or had the balls in high school to organize and protest for something they firmly believed in. That’s what’s wrong with the current debate. Jealousy will kill you (not you personally) and some on here seem jealous that the Parkland students have not backed down. They even went into the most violence prone areas of Chicago to show their support and compassion for and of those victims, asking them to join them. That’s where I have my faith, in the next generation. Most opposition on here is living in fear of the “other” and is too far gone. I’m not changing their mind but I will point out how wrong they are.

How far left has the left gone? Maybe the repubes have moved way too far right? Have you considered that? I don’t own any piece of Team Trump Treason and his ilk. His election is not on me. Not my President.

It does need to be pointed out each and every time. However, the flow of shit, corruption, ethics violations and so much more, too much to list, is such a tidal wave that its hard to keep up. As such, we need more people to speak up and out, its not acceptable. Those Team Trump Treason supporters particularly. Wrong is wrong. And if they don’t, if they remain silent, if they continue to support him and his ways, yes, they are vile human beings and lack compassion, empathy and a desire to see this country go down the shitter. Nonsense? Do you remember Bush in his SOTU saying the same thing? “You’re either with us or the terrorists?” Because I opposed the Iraq war, I’m a terrorist? A war based on lies, manipulation of the press and the legislative branch and irrational fear. That was a repube president calling the American people opposed to the Iraq war, terrorists. I also come here to learn, engage in spirited debate and provide my opinions. A great number of things posited by the other side has lead me to research and learn more things about a whole slew of topics. I will not back down and cede my position for the reasons noted above and I really don’t care if I change anyone’s mind or position. Ultimately, they have to live with the decisions they make.  I find it interesting that you have singled me out for “what I do takes away from that?” Why is that? Have not others done the same for the other side and yet you don’t call them out? Oh well, such as it is. It doesn’t bother me. Keep being you and I’ll keep being me.
