I have a legit question about the wall. Is there a reason it never really had momentum until after the Dems took the House? Why didn’t they fund the wall when the GOP controlled everything?
Cause it’s just a vote getting issue for both parties. It’s why the democrats never did anything worthwhile regarding immigration when they had control. Neither party cares, just wants voters to go to polls. If they fix the issue via compromise....how do they get their voters to the poll next time??!!

When were the democrats in power? Obama may have been President (no asterisk). But the House was firmly Conservative Majority.
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." You don't remember that?
Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013 You don't remember that?
Introduced by Schumer in the Senate and co-sponsored by the "Gang of Eight", a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators who wrote and negotiated the bill. The Senate passed the bill on 68-32 margin. The bill was not considered by United States House of Representatives and died in the 113th Congress. You don't remember that?
Yet here you come again with this 'both sides are bad' narrative. It's still horseshit.

Of course not. Rah, rah both sides suck. Funny too seeing how the last major immigration reform bill was signed by Reagan in 1986. This is what happens when white nationalists take over the repub party.

And for the sake of argument: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006 made it out of Senate, was promoted by Bush, and killed again by the Conservative Majority in the House.
So here are 2 recent examples (3 including the current shitshow) where bipartisan bills were passed by the Senate, approved by the president, and killed by conservatives.
Time & time again conservatives have shown they are more interested in making this a wedge issue, rather than actually tackling solutions.

November 2008 for 2 years was the last time.
You know both sides can be bad on some things. It’s not like it’s always only 1 side. Your data is what is horseshit.
You prove my point, 1 side actually tried to do selmthjng when they know the other side can block it...for votes.

Nice work.
This is not a "both sides" issue.
Well I disagree. Each have had their opportunity. The latest being the republicans who punted cause it was too hard and then use it as a politics tool for votes.

This might be like abortion. There are definitely conservatives who want Roe V Wade overturned and then abortion to be illegal in as many states as will make it so (or even nationally) but I think there are a lot who actually fear this because they care more about it as an issue that gets their voters energized.

How the hell does google figure that these type of ads are befitting my Pearl Jam bootleg blog? I have to see if there's a way to control what is advertised on your blog.
Edit: Okay I fixed it. But still...why would Trump ads be automated on my Pearl Jam page in the first place? Weird.

Google tracks your shopping interests and then the advertising banners on different sites feature items that might be of interest to you to try and entice you.
So... when you looked at getting some Trump merch...

Relax. He got it cause he searches a lot of sites for “dumbass brunettes”.

I'm just hassling him a bit.
But I've definitely never looked up Trump merch. I do however admit to watching Fox News videos on YouTube from time to time, but certainly not often enough to suggest that Trump-stuff should be advertised on my blog. Hell, if it really went by sites I visit and articles I read, every advertisement on the blog would be about how the Miami Dolphins stink.
And good line by Cincybearcat suggesting that I search for "dumbass brunettes." That was funny (and closer to my actual searches that Trump-related stuff)
As a Canadian I find it pretty fucking weird no matter what side you are on to wear hats or clothes for your political alliance. How odd.
You see American cars with bumper stickers supporting their candidates as well, all to fuckin weird, I do not think I've ever seen a bumper sticker on Canadian car advertising their candidates. Of course in Canada, once the elections are over the elected get sworn in and we do not hear about next until the year the election takes place...we are not in eternal campaign mode.

Dems had the white house, senate, and house from 2009-2011
And they focused on healthcare. There weren’t any repubs screaming that we don’t need health care but we do need a wall during 2009-2011.
Well shit. I didn’t know you could only get 1 thing done in 2 years with the executive and legislative branch in your control.
It’s called a “heavy lift.” Finite number of staff to work through the issues to get a major piece of legislation passed and enacted. Care to cite the equivalent repub piece of legislation regardless of issue? And wasn’t one of the chief complaints was that you’re trying to legislate 1/12 of the economy? And yet Dems got it done without one repub vote despite the inclusion, debate, mark ups, etc. And yet you still want to believe “both sides are the same.” The repubs are afraid of their white nationalist base and they have only themselves to blame, see gerrymandering.

The eternal campaigning is a huge issue.
I do not understand that. I think America is a way to political for my liking.

What are your campaign finance laws like? Limits? Amount raised and spent? Tv advertising, etc.? Corporations and individuals donor limits?
