The Russian government hacked into and stole information from both Republicans and Democrats. They only published information from the Democrats, in order to hurt Clinton and help Trump. It is generally agreed that the publications had this effect, though whether or not it changed the outcome of the election is impossible to say, but given how close it was, is within the realm of possibility.Free said:

Here's a theory, since Russia hacked both DNC and RNC, but only released DNC, one could presume that a deal was made with Russia by then republican nominee Trump and his team. They agreed to leak only DNC emails in efforts to help his chances of winning and in exchange Trump promised to appoint pro-Russia cabinet members so the RNC info wouldn't be released. Why don't you think so? It makes complete sense. No way only one gets hacked and not the other. Trump's side just decided to take the devil's deal first. Maybe Clinton's camp was too slow or thought it was just a ploy so they didn't bite on it.BS44325 said:
