Accusing someone of being hateful almost never brings out the best in a person, and accusing someone of being hateful almost never changes a person's mind since a person is then forced to be guarded and defensive of their own opinion. In other words, accusing someone of being hateful around here is almost never value-added, and is at best value-neutral, and I think a best-case value-neutral statement is probably a statement not worth making.

Context often determines the degree as to whether something is racist or not. Flipping races in an example and then boo-hooing that it's taken differently isn't valid because the context is different in the flip. Old white guys have been central to government and power since the beginning. That is the context of her statement. Except that she went a step further and stated that she wishes death upon elderly white businessmen and politicians. Is that type of rhetoric something that should be accepted by old, young, black, white, or anyone for that matter? Hell, that is way beyond any bigotry comments Trump has said about any group...

Eddie said the same thing during the Toronto show about a bigoted cab driver in Florida. Wanting to see an old way of thinking "die out" is not so offensive. I was certainly happy to see Castro go.

And your reaction probably best describes a lot of trump voters. They don't seem excited about trump being president, but rather want to gloat about winning and say "we won, get over it". I don't see trump voters getting excited about his childish tweets or that he's filling the swamp and not draining it. Or that his plans will harm people working in manufacturing. That he'll raise the cost of living. My question now is how long will it take for trump voters to realize they got conned.

I saw Trump on the Today show a few days ago...he was yammering about something to the effect of "I hope I get credit for the Dow Jones average as of the date of the election because it really jumped up", etc.

How stupid is that? Why would you want the benchmark on your first day to be at the highest point in history? You would really want the Dow to take a hit so you could brag about how much it went up during your presidency (like Obama...check out his before and after).

After the Brexit vote we saw a spike in internet searches for what Brexit was. It indicated many Brits bought into something they didn't quite understand or didn't believe would win, and then almost immediately regretted it. I think in this country there are some Trump supporters who deep down feel the exact same way.
