In New Jersey it is illegal to pump your own gas. Also in New Jersey it is illegal for a man to knit during fishing season.
    I love this state!

Per Section 49 of the Criminal Code of Canada, it is prohibited to intentionally alarm or frighten the Queen.

Some more copy and pasted dumb laws of Australia:
*You must have a neck to knee swimsuit in order to swim at Brighton Beach.

*Children may not purchase cigarettes, but they may smoke them.

*Until the Port Arthur Killings it was legal to own an AK-47 but not legal to be gay.

*You may never leave your car keys in an unattended vehicle.

*It is illegal to roam the streets wearing black clothes, felt shoes and black shoe polish on your face as these items are the tools of a cat burgular.

*It is illegal to walk on the right hand side of a footpath.

*Under Australian Communications Authority (ACA) regulations, a modem can’t pick up on the first ring.

*Taxi cabs are required to carry a bale of hay in the trunk.

*Bars are required to stable, water and feed the horses of their patrons.

*The legal age for straight sex is 16, unless the person is in the care/custody of the older person, in which case it is 18.

Damn, DF - and I thought the US had some wildass inexplicable laws.
  • Hahahahhaha with the Australian smoking law.

Minors cannot buy smokes, but if they steal them from their parents then they can smoke.

*Handshakes were originally meant to make sure that the person you were meeting wasn’t carrying a concealed weapon. The hand clasp proved that your hand was empty and shaking was meant to dislodge any weapons hiding up the sleeve.

is that the reason why older timers when they shake your hand put the other one on your forearm? this is interesting

I don't think any old timers around lived in days where people walked around carrying swords and daggers.
But that is why you shake with your right hand, since over 90% of the population is right handed, they were most likely armed with their right hand.

What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold? We've all heard that.

If you buy a pound of feathers and a pound of gold, the feathers will actually weigh more.
That is because the standard pound (officially called the avoirdupois system) is 16 oz to a pound that we all use today.
Precious metals are measured differently, they use the Troy ounce, which if very close to the standard ounce, but only 12 Troy oz in a pound. When you look up the value of gold, or your jeweler tells your your ring has 1 oz of gold, it's the Troy oz always being used, and 12 of these ounces in a pound.

So when buying a pound of feathers and a pound of gold, the feathers weigh more.
