If it was absolutely, positively unethical business practice going on - then yes, you'd be correct. We'd never see it. Agreed.a5pj said:
If it was a backdoor deal with the merch people the guy wouldn't have to wait in front of the line. They would just hold stuff back for him to buy later, or sell it to him early. You would never see them, or the merch, in line.Gtilley8 said:
So, the usual suspects, always at the beginning of the line, always a limit put on shortly after that. Hmmmmmmm, anyone seeing a pattern here?dimitrispearljam said:from phil, from facebook post
"They had limits much higher at the start. Like you could buy a full box of cards 48 packs. 10 stickers , 10 pennants etc etc. one dude had his wife? And hired 4 "workers" to wait in line. We watched as they took out so much merch they couldn't even carry it all to the dudes car. They had to make 2 trips. Watched him pay his workers cash and they all went on their way. 5 minutes later the limits were lowered2000 - 8/21 - Columbus, OH

Is anyone really surprised. Some PJ fans are dumb.Flamery said:Two people have already bought his box of $1000 cards
The same people who will post a complaint in a thread about prices are the same ones who need everything, run to ebay and drop a mortgage payment on a fucking box of paper baseball cards. And so you see, I have come to doubt

this right here is the problem who in there right mind would spend that kind of money on that? And people wonder why this "man in the green shirt" does what he does. There is a sucker out there that will buy this crap at 10 times the going rateFlamery said:Two people have already bought his box of $1000 cards
I asked some friends in Boston to get me a shirt and quickly told them to forget it after hearing all this nonsense

Don't worry, the seller will be back Thursday and Friday to restock...Flamery said:Two people have already bought his box of $1000 cards
Although that comes out to $20/pack, which isnt bad considering Wrigley packs peaked at $50/packPost edited by Alpine Bound on0 -
I have no evidence to back this up but I wonder if the flippers are pretending to buy this stuff at the crazy prices to try and set the market price for these items.0

Of course they'll open the box and sell individual packs for $50 a pop and turn a profit.Dr. Delight said:

I got back from the merch about an hour ago. Got in line around 11:30, got in around 2 I think. They were hardly sold out of anything, and looked like they had tons of boxes behind the curtain/wall thingy. Some poster stacks were looking low and I saw them restock with a big fresh stack. The posters aren't signed/numbered, not a limited run (though my Thomas does have a numbered hologram on back?) they probably have thousands for the week. This isn't pearl jams first rodeo, if they start selling on Tuesday, they will have plenty for for inside the venue and for during the week. I would just caution people to stay calm and optimistic.
But yes, early on there were people coming out with armfuls of poster tubes and bags of merch.
Anyways, good luck everyone, don't panic and buy off eBay yet, and enjoy the shows. I will try to periscope them both nights.Live Music Epiphanies - "I can feel your heart in your neck..."

Oh dang....they restocked stickers?!?! Did they have the enamel pin? I'm not sure if they ever had that to begin with today
Also....do the cards come with stale gum? That would be the selling point for me!Post edited by Redrumh2o on0 -
Thank you for this tiny bit of anxiety relief for me as I'm going to give it a go Friday morning first thing!Do the Evolution69 said:I got back from the merch about an hour ago. I want a whole box of cards, I really do! I hope they printed soooooo many that they won't be worth ANYTHING!!!0 -
Of course they are. It's the easiest, oldest trick in the book. Have a friend "buy" your item, the sale gets canceled afterwards, seller gets his fee from eBay reversed, and the item still shows as sold. Everyone else thinks 2 boxes were actually sold for $1000 so they think they're getting a great deal at $800 or $900.PJNB said:I have no evidence to back this up but I wonder if the flippers are pretending to buy this stuff at the crazy prices to try and set the market price for these items.
I have no doubt in my mind those are fake sales.Uniondale, NY 04/30/03 - Camden, NJ 07/05/03 - MSG 07/08/03 - Reading, PA 10/01/04 - Philly 10/03/05 - Ed Sullivan Theatre 05/04/06 - MSG 06/25/08 - MSG 05/21/10 - NYC (EV solo) 06/21/11 - Montreal 09/07/11 - Brooklyn 10/18/13 - Central Park 09/26/15 - Philly 04/29/16 - MSG 05/01/16 - MSG 05/02/16 - Fenway 08/05/16 - Fenway 09/02/18 - Fenway 09/04/180 -
I left there around the same time as you, maybe few minutes before, and was told that cards were sold out as well. Other than the awesome Thomas poster, everything I was interested in was available. I'll trade-off that poster and wait in line 15 min opposed to 2 hours though. Sometimes real life gets in the wayJennsis said:Just left there. It is 3:30. The shop has all but one poster and everything else. They started limits. 10 cards (earlier ppl got boxes of 48) 3 stickerst and basically 2 of everything else. Shirts are not available in all sizes. The line is only 20ppl long
(or should I say "Sometimes life don't leave you alone"). 6 posters for this show is a bit ridiculous anyway IMO.

So I'm going to both shows all I want to do is pick up the baseball style shirt and a hat. Will I have a problem getting either of those in the building?
