The point is that Obama accepted the very same type of donations during his campaign and he is also against CU. Sanders would have absolutely accepted this cash during a general election campaign. If he did not, a GOP candidate would run 4x as many commercials in swing states devastating him. If you think he would not, then you are as naive as the people who said he would never endorse HRC. You cannot cede that much in financial disadvantage and compete. Until the law is revoked you have to play on that field. Sorry for that political reality.

I find it really amazing that someone would post that she'll overturn CU and they actually believe it.

Well she can't overturn it. Let's be clear. There are only two paths:

1. Liberal justices supersede conservative ones and a challenge that is materially different than the CU case is brought forth, which has the ability to return to the original Bipartisan Reform Act which was essentially invalidated. You cannot re-argue CU vs. FEC.

2. Constitutional Amendment that codifies soft money bans. It can't be done by law, it must be done by Amendment.

So it's a very steep hill to climb. And first biggest impediment is the GOP controlled states houses and governor seats.

You're assuming. You're using hypothetical situations. I'm talking directly about your candidate, who is preaching one thing in front of the cameras and doing another behind the scenes. Why so many excuses? Political reality? This is what I have to accept? You keep bring up sanders as if he's the one running for office. I'm not sure why you're calling me naive for something I never said. Lastly, sanders is doing your candidate/party/country a good and you're acting unappreciative of it, as if you're not benefitign from his endorsement.

Again, you're not accepting the reality that your candidate is playing the general population for a fool! She should state that in her speech- that she's going to benefit from this now and than after she's secure she'll work to overturn it.

I didn't call you naive. And I think Bernie has done a wonderful job in the last few weeks. Unfortunately his supporters aren't getting the memo. I have been far more critical of supporters than Sanders. During the campaign, I only had two issues with Bernie:
1. I disagreed with several of his more liberal monetary positions. But that's fine, I like arguing policy.
2. Later in the campaign, he did not do nearly enough to reign in his supporters, liek the Dr. Song thing, like the booing HRC at rallies, etc. That's not what we Dems do. We are respectful.

But I'm past all that and I appreciate everything Bernie has done.

And to your first point.. yes of course I'm assuming, using rational logic and the most recent history of Bernie getting onboard with the Dems. So it stands to reason. And it's the political reality that even Obama accepted.

But at the end of the day, why would any speech writer put this in that she's going to benefit from this now and than after she's secure she'll work to overturn it.. A writer would NEVER nuance something like that in a convention speech. What's the point?

Maybe she doesn't connect well with the middle class, and I'm sure it's been 200 days since a press conference. But those aren't cause and effect statements. It's shitty writing.
