Fucking Louis CK doing a surprise show at helium tonight. Got the text from Helium at 1 to buy tickets in person, got to Helium by 1:15 and a line was around the corner. God dammit.

    Well shit.
Line was all the way to 21st within 15 minutes. People were hopping out of cabs and sprinting to the line. Would be pretty god damn sweet, but no chance the end of the line when I got there was getting tickets.

Ugh, well looks like if I stuck it out I could have had tickets. Added a 2nd show, should have figured. Just swung by and no shit that the line goes from helium, to 21st, all the way up to chestnut and about half way a quarter of the way back to 20th. Not sure people are aware of how small the place is.

I had no idea JT ever played for the Phils....even tho I now see he hit nearly 100 HRs in 2003 and 2004, I somehow missed that.

No. I think they won 86 games both years. He just was here for such a short amount of time that I think it's funny he's being honored like this. I don't know why they need to do this every single year.

I was at that game where he hit his 400th, though. That was awesome....as was Harry's call, of course.

    RIP HK

They really are stretching it - how bout this CRAZY idea of not inducting anyone one year, or many years?

Wouldn't be surprised if the entire '08 team gets in next summer.

They signed him to help sell tix for the new stadium. It delayed Howard's move up to the club.

    Well, yeah, and win ballgames.

Imagine if Rolen wasn't a cock and how much earlier this team would have started their run. Instead of breaking through in '06/'07 we would have probably had 3-4 more seasons in there of legit playoff contention.

OR.....someone should tell they they can still honor former players WITHOUT inducting them into the team's wall of fame. I have no problem with having a "Jim Thome Night" during Alumni Weekend....just ridiculous to put him on the wall.

The Rolen thing is interesting because, yeah they would've most likely gotten to the playoffs much earlier.....BUT.....would that success have meant Gillick never came? And thus would we have been stuck with Ed Wade longer than we would've liked? Ed did a great job drafting those guys and building the farm, but we clearly needed Gillick's expertise of getting the missing pieces to surround those guys.

I'd like to hop into the ol' Delorean to see how things would've turned out differently if Rolen accepted that 140M ish deal back in the day...

Enough about the Fightin's - how bout this? We got shows in three weeks! I just realized this tour is in an election cycle, so hopefully that means they get their fucking hate back. Love me some Pearl Jam when they're at full hate - there is no better Pearl Jam than Pearl Jam at full hate. Looking forward to the boos from the "Stick to the music. I didn't PAY to see YOU preach!" crowd.
