Bernie Sanders for President

PP didn't say people were lazy. He's saying that he doesn't understand why some think that 'earners' should be taxed at a high rate in order for other to come out of college debt free. And my argument is that 1. the cost of tuition is the core issue 2. while getting out of school in four years is great, people need to evaluate if that's a good decision for them considering the debt load (vs. 2 years of JUCO, working while in school and taking less credits, etc.).cottagesteeze said:
I don't understand how wanting to not go 40K in debt for an education is asking for handouts? Last I checked going to school (especially finishing in 4 years as I did) is hard work. It is not being lazy. It doesnt make much sense to me to use the words wanting education and lazy in the same sentence. If we were lazy, we wouldn't give a damn about getting an education, we would just be flipping burgers.PP193448 said:
Exactly. I worked thru college as resident assistant 2.5 years in the dorm that I lived in. I lived in the dorm all 4 years, because I sure as hell couldn't afford an apartment. Had boatload of college loan debit after graduate school. How about reimbursement of my tuition and interest fees, plus compounded interest for my money. This whole free loader mentality is ridiculous. People don't want to contribute to society but want everything contributed to them. Free tuition, free healthcare, free whatever. And no one should disagree with any of it??? How about the fact that I need water to drink to survive as a human being, and that I "deserve" free clean drinking water coming out my faucet. I deserve free plumbing so my shit doesn't back up in my house (literally). How about free electric because I need to have power for my computers and to charge my iPad...mrussel1 said:

Well, I think this is a bit hyperbolic, but there's an element of truth. And it's really the problem with the policies. But I don't hear Elizabeth Warren railing against her former employer (Harvard) who charges 60k a year for tuition while it sits on a 37 BILLION dollar endowment. The welfare system is broken in this country. Too much gaming of the system. So let's have more immigrants come in and jump on the bandwagon. The welfare system needs fixed to benefit the people who actually need it. The government is broken in this country, too much greed, lobbying, corruption. The whole thing needs fixed. Asking for free college tuition and having someone else pay for It is not fixing the problem of outrageous costs to benefit college administrators. Fix the problems, not avoid the problems and make others pay the price. I didn't call anyone lazy. I know how difficult it is do go through higher education. Been through it. All I hear from the rhetoric is that we need to tax more to make things affordable for everyone, instead of putting caps on tuition and administrative salaries.cottagesteeze said:

Oh, and 40k in debit is a drop in the bucket for the costs I incurred in loans thru school... So sure. Reimburse me the close to 250k in my education costs plus interest and I will not complain about taxing me more for free tuition for the oh so deprived students today....2006 Clev,Pitt; 2008 NY MSGx2; 2010 Columbus; 2012 Missoula; 2013 Phoenix,Vancouver,Seattle; 2014 Cincy; 2016 Lex, Wrigley 1&2; 2018 Wrigley 1&2; 2022 Louisville0 -

Going to college and not doing it with a full time job is easy. Comparatively. As did Mrusselll, I paid as I went. Took a while. Would of loved having four years out of high school to focus exclusively on school.cottagesteeze said:
