Maybe I'm old school and really don't care if I see a rock band in concert anymore. If my wife wants in, she can sign herself up. If my kids want in, they can get a job and sign up themselves.

That's part of why I find it hard to agree that this particular system is more fair than any other one used previously. Multiple household memberships = more ticket chances. Doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the club...

Do you not think people had multiple memberships prior to the lottery? I'm sure people had spouse/family/friends f5ing for tickets during the previous tours.

I don't think anything has changed much.

again though, there were limits put on tickets per person/account. Limited to one pair per person per show, and one show. The difference now is with multiple accounts, you have one pair per person for many shows.

It is a bit of a jackpot scenario to be a single show goer and score GA tix, if you get lucky and get a pair it guarantees you another GA ticket.
Not making a judgement on it, just noting that it's a bummer for peopl who get shut out to see others parlaying their GA tix into more GA tix.

I dont think they should go back to f5 free for alls....

But the current system isnt perfect and provides a lot of room for suggestions and improvement, no? Shouldnt we hope that it evolves and improves?

There were plenty of tricks and shortcuts to getting tickets during the online sale days. You just had to be paying attention to figure it out. For example... The ten club was using consecutive SKUs for shows and once you figured that out you could bypass a lot of Internet traffic to get right to the sale page.

The lottery is much better and fairer to people that have to work all day. I never failed to get tickets under the old system but I still think the lottery is an improvement. I get there is potential for abuse but it's better than the old system.

I don't see a problem with this at all. Who cares if fans are trading to get into shows that both parties want? As long as these tickets stay in the hands of members than what's the big deal? Sign up the whole family! Do whatever you can to increase your odds. When you see GA on stubhub fir thousands of dollars, THATS a problem.

The problem is that multiple memberships allow someone to see many shows while the guy who just wants one can be shut out.

Because if you sign up the whole family, I guarantee they're not all fans. They've just paid membership dues to get ticket access. That's sort of a problem, I feel.

I agree... but there is a lot of room for improvement. nickNYR15 has proved it quite well above as does your response. The system isn't really equitable right now.

So Why shouldn't we both be members? Should we be penalized for being married fans? We both travel together to shows happily. I guess if u have a case where the significant other doesn't know one song from PJ than you have a point, but then we're just splitting hairs. It's impossible to measure fandom through a membership. I think these types of discussions only come out of people who lost out. I understand, it SUCKS loosing but that's life.

It's a big problem in the jamband scene (especially with phish tickets on cashortrade.org). Since you have to pick them up in person here, that definitely helps, but it's still very annoying to see.

No, but when you're having even more family members that aren't fans buy memberships to increase your ticket odds, that's a problem.

so the ten club has been reduced to nothing more than a chance for tickets in cases like this. call it for what it is.
