San Bernardino Shootings Kill 14

Nearly 750,000 hunters went deer hunting last week in Pennsylvania. Think about it, millions of rounds of ammunition and nearly 3/4 of a million firearms and not one mass shooting or murder. The vast vast majority of gun owners are responsible. It s the very small percentage as usual that fuck it up for everyone.Bentleyspop said:

That chocolate bar comment is so rude. At least from my perspective.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:^^^^
Right to choose, agreed.
Kind of like you can choose to become a murderous martyr in the name of aluha chocolate bar with your faith in being rewarded with multiple virgins in the afterlife,
or
You could choose to be normal and realize that your faith is bullshit about that.
Thousands of cultures all have their own god - each is hoping that their faith in it is true.
What exactly are the people who say that their faith is getting them through troubled times mean?
What is it doing?
Claiming its gods plan that put you in misery and using faith in god to pull you out?
WTF.
As an agnostic, I have not used faith to get through dark days so I can't say how it's used. Perhaps others can. Maybe in the same ways that Brian mentioned earlier? Nature, music, etc. Writing. Something in which to find solace and comfort. Even strength.
Also, not all live by the "god's plan" mentality.

We all have different means of coping - or crutches, as PJ_Soul mentioned. Again, without flinging those means at others, insisting everyone else use them, I don't see the harm.
Whatever gets you through the night (and to your own personal light), it's alright.0 -
I'm an atheist and generally religion creeps me out. However, I do not feel the need to mock others for their religion or to question the validity of their beliefs. If having faith or belief in a god helps them get through tough times in life then I say good for them. As long as their beliefs in no way interfere with my life then how can I possibly have a problem with it? Plenty, if not the majority of people of faith practice that faith without bothering anyone else. Who am I to try and interfere with that or to sneer at them for doing so?0

It's fine if you'd rather counter.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:

That has nothing to do with my other comment(s).
Have at it and have fun.

We got into a convo at the bar the other night when someone said "These crazies stock pile 1000s of rounds of ammo" I laughed and got into with them saying you can buy a few boxes of range ammo and have yourself "1000s of rounds" it's that easy. For less then 100 bucks.mcgruff10 said:

We need to enforce the laws we have to start with and do a better job with background checks.Another good start would be the media quit glorifying these events.but I agree with statement above.0 -

When you buy ammo in the US do you need to provide anything? (id, etc)
Or can you just walk into a store and buy it?0 -
It depends on the state. In nj you need a rifle/shotgun firearms identification card to buy handgun ammo. When you order online some places make you fax a copy of your liscense to prove you are over 18.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:^^^^

Anyone over 18 can buy ammo on-line? Oh, that;s just lovely.mcgruff10 said:

You still going on about your 'hunch' that the man bears the brunt of the responsibility in this case?PJ_Soul said:
What a sick comment. No acknowledgment of the fact that a man born in America did it and was likely the real influence here. I guess that is somehow secondary to bigots.Godfather. said:the bitch left a note/comments for isis on Facebook ?

Stop being such a fucking xenophobe GF.
It's been revealed that the douchebag woman was a religious nutbar that pledged her allegiance to ISIS. This would tell me that, at a minimum, she's an equal partner in this venture... and if not, she played the lead.
Are you thinking that a woman is incapable of asserting her beliefs and values in a relationship and influencing a man? I typically give women a little more credit.
Remember that I am one that agreed with your findings that portrayed men as the more violent gender and overwhelmingly the root of most violent crimes. It's unfounded in this case to this point in time however."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
I think you have to be over 18 (21) in some states.
I have seen people get "carded" as if they were buying cigarettes or alcohol. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Does simply being any certain age make it safe for anyone to buy ammo?dudeman said:I think you have to be over 18 (21) in some states.

Safe is relative. I think if you can't legally own firearms you shouldn't be able to buy ammo. To my knowledge, there is no system in place to identify those people when only buying ammo and not guns.
To the relativity of safety, it's not safe for some people to buy booze but they don't have a way to determine whether or not a person is going to cause problems for society when under the influence of booze at the time of the sale.Post edited by dudeman onIf hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Yeah, I thought about that after I posted it. Safety is relative. Some people are dangerous with a basketball in their hands (I almost lost an eye to a basketball!) I don't know exactly how to keep dangerous items out of the hands of the wrongs people. Selling ammo on-line doesn't sound like a step in the right direction, however. And besides, I'm surprised it's legal to ship ammo. I'm thinking about what the post office people ask me every single time I ship a book. And of course books can be very dangerous (my favorite kind!)dudeman said:Safe is relative. I think if you can't legally own firearms you shouldn't be able to buy ammo. You are a legal adult. What s the issue? Good enough to go to war but can't buy your own ammo?brianlux said:

I m pretty sure the vast majority of states you just need to be of age. Nj is one of the few states that have a separate firearms Id card to purchase a weapon.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:
