He did get his law degree at liberty university law school. Jerry Falwells university.
So maybe he's not an actual attorney?

What's really breathtaking and sad is that that headline is completely reasonable, everyone understands what it implies, and Fox is the biggest, most viewed news network in America. :confounded:
I've heard that but had to look it up to believe it. It's true! FOX is the biggest news network in America. Now that is sad but not really what I would call breathtaking. More like stomcah churning. How can it be??

....so then If I wanted a cake ...white frosting 16" X 16" X 16" with read lettering that read white power baked at the bakery owned by a black couple in thier mid to late 60's I would not be imposing on them and they should be happy to get my business ? or should I understand how they may feel about it and go to another bakery ?

Is it illegal for them to refuse to make the cake based on what you want it to say?

as what others have said. it's about the law, not about hurting feelings.

I like this " it's about the law, not about hurting feelings" ....moral issues are usally a personal thing shared by many or sometimes just a few, makes for quite a game of cat and mouse don't it.

this is going to get crazy !

if you guys would be kind enough to listen just for a second...
the only reason I am not 100% behind this gal is simply this " who am I to judge your sin's ? " we all sin and as far as I know a sin is a sin is a sin, how we all feel about each sin maybe different but in the end it's still a sin that is not for me to judge.

from the local paper during the election for clerk last year. She won a 4 year term. note the quotes attribued to her about the office and what she intened to do.

    http://www.themoreheadnews.com/news/local_news/county-clerk-s-race-more-contested-than-usual/article_1bbd5592-55fe-11e4-8f89-377bb4c40dd9.html?mode=jqm

This year’s election to replace retiring Rowan County Clerk Jean Bailey is more spirited than local voters have seen in recent years when Bailey ran unopposed in five of her nine terms in office.

The Oct. 17 print edition of The Morehead News stated erroneously that the office had not seen a contested election in 38 years. Actually, Bailey had an opponent in 2010 but did not face opposition in her four previous terms. She will leave office Dec. 31 after 37 years of service and never having lost an election.

Chief Deputy Court Clerk Kim Davis, a Democrat, and John Cox, a Republican, are vying for a four-year term in the Nov. 4 general election.

Davis feels she brings the experience needed to operate the multi-million dollar office and Cox believes change is needed.

“I've been employed in the county clerk's office for 26 years and it’s what I love to do,” said Davis. “There is so much that goes into the clerk’s office and someone who has never worked in this office could easily be overwhelmed if they had no experience.”

Davis added that she has learned from Jean Bailey, who had served in the position since 1978.

“Jean Bailey is one of the most respected clerks in the state and I've been blessed to watch and learn from her. She has taught me what it takes,” said Davis. “If I'm elected it will be a seamless transition with no break in services to our citizens. Licenses, taxes, election-related activities and all of our other services cannot stop or slow down.”

Cox said that people talked to him about wanting to see changes made in the clerk’s office and that is why he decided to run for the office.

“There have been many years of the same thing and it is time for a change. I want to make the office more convenient for people by extending hours and being open on Saturdays,” said Cox. “I have a college degree, 14 years of personal business experience and 17 years of banking experience and I want to bring better management techniques to the office. We can work within the budget and offer more to the people in how we manage things.”

He added that a different perspective can offer a lot to the office.

“It is time for a strong and fresh start. I care about providing the needs of our citizens and my leadership abilities will be dedicated to that full time,” said Cox. “I want to use my experience to operate the clerk’s office in a modern, efficient way that will take us into the future.”

Both candidates agree that customer service is one of the most important aspects of the position.

“I'm a people person and a problem solver and I can use the skills acquired in my 41 years of customer service to provide the best service to the citizens as possible,” said Cox. I plan to be highly dedicated and know that this is more than a full-time job. I am running to help bring about the change that people want because they deserve that.”

“The public is my boss. As a deputy clerk, I have had people call me for needs on holidays or at other times when the office is closed,” said Davis. “Being a public servant is ingrained in me and I want continue providing the high level of customer service we do while treating people with respect, kindness, and helping them with whatever situation they have.”

Each candidate reminded citizens to exercise their right to vote and to cast their ballots based on what is important.

“I just want people to know that I want to provide them with the best experience possible,” said Cox. “The changes can be done and I want to dedicate myself to this leadership role and serve the people of Rowan County.”

“I am not a politician and I do not make political promises that I may not be able to achieve and I do not think that I know every situation that may happen but I do know how to maintain this office,” said Davis. “I will continue to be on the front line, ever present, and continue to serve with compassion and dedication.”

Davis and Cox added that they appreciate the support they have received so far in their campaigns.

Shayla Menville can be reached at smenville@themoreheadnews.com or by telephone at 784-4116.

Yeah, watch what happens... violent crime falls, teen pregnancy falls, equal rights are given to women, blacks, gays...etc.

Then again, facts aren't important to folks like you.

You have already judged us by saying we all sin. That is only according to you, and is exactly why people like us are constantly telling religious people to please stop grouping us into your category.
Sins are done by religious people only.
Now please let us go on with our lives led by our own morals and not religious guidelines.
Do non-religious people do things that are wrong?, of course but that is no sin.

if we go full on god, know what that means?

no shellfish, no clothes of mixed fibers, we could sell our daughters for livestock, we would stone people who got divorced, and no sex unless for procreation.

plus we would actually have to love our neighbor as ourselves and be our brothers' keeper. and everyone knows, nobody wants to do any of that.

i'm not advocating giving up at all.

all i am saying is, if people want us to follow the bible, then we follow all of it. not just the parts we like. people picking and choosing the appropriate parts to follow is what earns ridicule from people like me. these people want to act all devout and then they quote things that are not even in the bible and assign those quotes to jesus because it fits their religious agenda. if they want to have us live according the bible, they can't be selectively quoting and selectively adhering to it, ya know?
