  • I hate this woman now. I don't want to talk or think about her. She's a nobody.
  • The people who are tolerant are the people allowing others to worship immortal, omnipresent superior beings living in the sky and capable of anything in relative peace.

Go ahead. If you are happy and die happy worshipping a superior being... them I'm in favour of you worshipping a superior being. The only thing is... while you're doing that... don't f**king tread on others and their idea of happiness.

    Geezuz, man.

I've spoken out about religion and mocked it in very poor fashion on several occasions; but I need to say... I usually only get fired up against religion when it is the motivating force for some despicable act.

What does this have to do with the county clerk? Quit pissing on muslin and Christian religion. I would say YOU are the weird one, as millions of others are Muslims and Christians. How many atheists are there again? Basically zero? That's what I thought.

County clerk is doing what she thinks is morally correct and I do and will continue to applaud her for doing so. If we don't do gods work it will fade and the world will then turn into hell, and I'm sure no one wants that.

Is it illegal for them to refuse to make the cake based on what you want it to say?
really ? what ever happened to the bakery owners that refused to bake a wedding cake for same sex ....people ? it was all over the news for a while that there was a fine and they didn't seem to have the right to refuse service anybody.....or does that rule not aply to same sex couples ?

    Godfather.

did you really pause and search for a word to describe "same sex........people"?

    they are people too.

that would be like me describing people of faith and act like i am searching for a word to describe what they are.

    "those religious........people."

I hate this woman now. I don't want to talk or think about her. She's a nobody.

Well, you still thought, spoke, and wrote about her. So ahe apparently does bother you, that means you're incorrect and do in fact care about her. She's a good woman, lay off her.

And posting pics with the word cunt is very degrading. How would she feel? Would you say that to her face? Didn't think so.

Yah gee. You're right. The last thing we need is a bunch of demons floating around and chasing us. It'd be freakin' hot too- all that fire getting us and stuff.

I'll do some good prayers tonight and chip in with pleasing God. Maybe then I won't be so damn weird. Hey... wait a sec... why are you calling me 'weird'? I thought you said name calling was uncool?

It's funny, because the basic thought of anyone in the minority being slammed by the (self)righteous (and slamming others for being weird? really?) ...oh so ironic.

For fuck's sake, JAG. Get off your high horse already. Any valid point you may have made over time (still searching) are negated by this kind of bullshit.

But keep applauding her for discrimination. You never answered my question about "knowing" what god would want, and how you could have such a firm grip on it.

I'm on a highway to hell!

She was asked. If it is also okay for a muslim to do the same. She gave a dodge answer that didnt address the principle involved.

  • I think many on this board would be of the leather and denim religion, rather than the muslin.

    People are getting smarter.

They've been slow to do it... but people have started to think of the logic behind the story they've been sold. "You just need to have faith" doesn't exactly answer the tough questions. At least it never did for me.

Answering tough questions. Seems to be a challenging thing for some.

I asked this in the other thread regarding Kim Davis, and I will repeat it here as you may have missed it before the thread was closed:

Could someone please give a clear, definitive job description of what God's work is? I'm being serious. It seems that the wording is vague enough that many people interpret how they wish and use it to justify whatever actions they take. A clear description would be most helpful and greatly appreciated. Please and thank you.

^^ But I do. And you know what? I love God, too. He hasn't struck me down yet. ;) I'd like to think that God has us here to love everyone and judge no one. You know, it's kind of not my job.

Exactly what it comes down to, deadend. I get Thirty's sarcasm too!

Growing up and even now, it seemed to me that god was / is about love, embracing, comforting...not dividing...not inspiring fear or one who'd coerce people to "do the right thing" because it'd leave them up high vs kindness for its own sake.

Guessing the JAG'ged one won't address this or lo, the many other comments and questions made?

Totally willing to allow for response time.

    Aaaand....GO!

Maybe the key is in the phrase, "If we don't do gods work..." Maybe that's the deal- God is trying to get people to do all the work which is rather ironic seeing as how he/she/it is omnipotent. But at least the Devils lets us have all the fun!

I don't care what anyone thinks God's work is supposed to be, partly because no one could know that, namely because God doesn't exist anyway, and also because God has no place in government anyhow, so what difference does it make?? JAG, how do you justify your idea that personal religious belief has any place in government and how the law defines and serves equal rights, and how do you reconcile it with your own apparent respect of the Constitution in other regards? For example, how can you possibly defend your right to free speech or right to bear arms, while supporting opposition to the Constitution based on your religious beliefs?

I guess it's pretty ridiculous of me to expect any kind of logical comment or answer from you about anything at this point, but I keep hoping. I do actually think that you are just a very creative troll who loves to say whatever you feel will get people irritated (i picture you sitting at the computer and chuckling and cackling over how gullible we all are), but even so, I am curious to see what you can come up with as an answer to that question.

I would call her that to her face. And guess what, I just got home from church. Yep, I go to church, I believe in God, I respect anyone's right to believe in God or not. It's a personal decision and none of my business.

I think that woman has no business in a job where she can't separate her religion from her work.

What PJSoul just said, "How do you justify your idea that personal religious belief has any place in government and how the law defines and serves equal rights, and how do you reconcile it with your own apparent respect of the Constitution in other regards? For example, how can you possibly defend your right to free speech or right to bear arms, while supporting opposition to the Constitution based on your religious beliefs?"

    Amen.
  • I can respect the fact that someone has strong beliefs, even beliefs I disagree with, if they don't harm other people. But most people faced with the dilemma of standing up for their beliefs or doing their job would find another job. If someone is elected to office, they're probably more likely to face decisions and compromises than us regular working stiffs, but they choose to run for office and that comes with the territory.

Davis has a pretty good gig. She gets a very good salary in a locale where there aren't a lot of job opportunities, from what I can tell. She still collects her salary for the time she spent in jail. Why should she resign? Even if she's sent back to jail, she still gets paid while claiming that she's persecuted for her conscience. She can't be forced out until the legislature meets and the governor has said he won't call a special session before they meet in January. She has very little to lose by continuing her behavior during the next few months. She might want to polish up her resume though, although I have a feeling she'll have plenty of job offers from her supporters.
