    Hahahaha!

GF... posts like these are the reason I never give up on you.

You're a work in progress from my way of thinking, but you're worth the efforts.

  • Some people on this thread, and others, have expressed the fear that when people no longer believe in God there is no reason for them to behave in a moral fashion. Just a few pages back the spectre of a godless nation where violence runs rampant was raised.

Those of us who do not believe in god know otherwise, so it's good to have this confirmed. This link gives some interesting facts on how kids do when they are raised in a secular home - in lots of ways, they behave in a more moral, ethical fashion. Some of the countries with the lowest rate of religious belief also have the lowest crime rates. And finally, the rates of atheists in the prison populations, when last studied, was close to zero.

Haha. I want this Kim Davis thing to go away.....but I couldn't resist this meme
  • So, despite the furor she may not have as much support as she thinks she does.

I wonder if Kim Davis and others of her religiously biased ilk were to sit down and watch the film "Love is Strange" (John Lithgow, Alfred Molina, 2014) if they might have second thoughts and at least a little thawing of their hardened hearts?

    so......

when are they going to haul this woman before a judge again?

soon as they figure out if she broke any laws LOL !, I kind of figured that this would get messy
with her rights and their rights and moral issue arguments.

    Amazing, eh?

The tail wags the dog. This could have been so simple: just boot her ass and hire someone who'll perform to the job's standards and requirements.

Idiot: "I'm sorry, but I don't believe in gay marriage so therefore I will not be issuing any licenses to gays seeking them because God doesn't want me to do that!"

Normal Person: "No problem. You're entitled to your views. But we need someone who can... soooo... here's a broom and there's a mess- all those crumbs where you ate your bag of Dad's cookies. God's okay with you cleaning up messes isn't he?"

..is that this statement crosses over to the rights of religious questions and beliefs across the board not just the rights for a few idiots....but all idiots,

I'm not sure what you're getting at here?

She has the right to believe in Santa if that's what she chooses. She doesn't have the right to not perform her job as expected because she believes in God.

    Ridiculous.

What really pisses me off about all of this (and no, it's not the hair; keep your goddamn hair, Davis) is that any of us - most of us - would've been fired from the get-go for pulling this shit.

Who hasn't had internal conflicts on the job? Most rational people would either suck it up / get over it and do what they're being paid for, or said "sorry, my *good conscience* doesn't allow me to do what I was elected to do and what I'm well-paid for".

    *edit - and stepped down.

Religion is one of those topics that gets a pass. I get why. It makes no sense yet so many hold onto it. Like the elephant in the room.

Quoting Elaine "Fake Fake Fake Fake"

And many even non religious will say I'm insensitive or don't respect. Nah. Not at all.

Heres the question I have , is it within the scope of her job description and authority set forth by the county and state to make such a change on her own wothout county and/or state approval?

Removal of the county of record from a legal document?

I think , with her approval , her attorneys are pushing for a test case by advising her to take these actions. They want to see how far the can go under states RFRA laws.

I think there are clerks and even judges waiting to press forward in this way but somebody needed to be first.

    Yup.

They'll cuff and detain a 14 year old kid for bringing a clock to school... but they'll celebrate a bigoted, nasty looking woman for being a tool.
