I find your complete lack of trust for everyone here disturbing btw. I know not many agree with you, but you also consider us all liars, apparently. I don't understand why you would even engage with the people here so much if that's how you feel.
(To answer your question, if i didn't live in a small 1 bedroom apartment and instead had something with room for them, I would certainly be willing to offer help by letting a family stay with me while they found work and got on their feet. That's assuming the government allowed it, which isn't likely because Harper's a prick. If he does anything it will only he because there is an election looming. I don't think I could afford to feed them or anything though.... but food banks and other charities could help).
Am I willing to have refugees come and stay in my 650 square foot apartment? No. I couldn't handle that. I Couldn't even handle that if it were someone I know for more than a couple days, lol.

So I assume by your question that you would absolutely not help people in desperate need? Is this because they are from the middle east? Or would you refuse to shelter Americans in a crisis too?

and your responce tells me you have a hard time trusting people, and as far as am concerned that's fine, you don't need to trust anybody to help them but helping does not mean giving up the house and car keys or trusting the safety of my family to a stranger, there are ways to help without putting yourself or family in harms way.

I believe the issue here is how culpable is the US when it comes to this refugee crisis? That is a hard one to answer. How at fault is the US when it comes to the growth of ISIS? In a totally direct way, i would say not at all. In an indirect way, like in 6 degrees of Bacon kind of terms, or the butterfly effect theory, the US is probably one of the more guilty parties (i personally am not looking at the refugee crisis as a reason to be angry with the US as a cause though. My anger with most first world governments is how they are now handling the crisis... but most of that anger is focused on my own country and on the European nations that are being beyond unhelpful, as well as several wealthy middle eastern nations (possibly the worst of all)).

The Red Cross is shady?

Believe it or not, the Red Cross *is* shady.

It is widely known that the organization misappropriated millions in funds earmarked for 9/11 relief. And then four years later, the Red Cross pulled the rug out from under New Orleans after Katrina.

It may be squeaky clean now. But you rip off charitable folks and fuck over those in need in my two favorite cities in the world, then you have credibility issues with me for life.

Thankfully, there are other ways to help and more localized charities on the ground that put your money to work better and faster.

There are a lot of dynamics going on. We in the USA and Canada think we can understand the plight of the refugees and the border countries in Europe.

The USA and Canada are frickin' huge countries though. A million refugees could come into the USA and 95% of the population wouldn't know.

I think for countries like Italy and Greece that are financially broke and don't have strong governments, it may be difficult for individuals living in those countries to be accepting of refugees because there may not be the resources to take care of them, and let's all admit that there is a lot of terrorism in these countries they are coming from and it is reasonable to have some level of trepidation that all of these refugees aren't coming to assimilate to their culture.

Anyway, I'm not saying we shouldn't help these refugees, but let's not automatically judge people because they have legitimate concerns that their way of life can be impacted significantly. We see when assimilation doesn't happen that the negative effects are huge (i.e., riots in France, riots in Sweden, terrorism in London, etc...).

The USA wasn't ready for Hurricane Katrina so don't bitch at Budapest becuase they don't have a plan.
