    You're wrong - All those armchair/internet/bumper sticker green activists are happier today.
    They let others do the heavy lifting and today will think that this campaign promise will bring what they have advocated for all along.
    They will support this because no other party has come out onto global stage to promote this.

    Alberta has never had Nordic style of government. Norway used one idea from Alberta, by researching what countries were doing with oil riches. They tax the hell out of people so they don't have to use resource money. They are a country, not a province with financial obligations to another Higher Level of government, the Feds. They have 5 million people. The comparison is unfair and quite frankly, nonsensical.

    I never said Alberta had a Nordic style of government, you seem to have come up with that out of thin air. The only thing I commented on was that Alberta started out fairly taxing oil (under Lougheed) and then throughout the years, I believe starting with King Ralph, eroded away those taxes, to what pittance they pay now. Notley will hopefully, after the oil review, raise those taxes more in line with what Lougheed had them paying back in the 70's.

    Were you around in the 80s to early 90s in Alberta? No jobs and no foreign investment. Klein was closing hospitals to try and balance budgets. (Thank the Libs for the NEP and no one here has forgotten)
    If you were, you would remember how tough it was, and perhaps the "erosion of taxes" you speak of is part of the reason industry saw Alberta as a business friendly province and created all the prosperity we have today. I graduated in 92, no hope and no future which is the MAIN reason bands like PJ spoke to us in the first place.
    This is the problem, when things don't go the far left's way, they fall to the "they are stealing our resources and we shouldn't turtle" position when the fact is, they don't really need our oil as there are plenty of other options for investment in the resource industry. It is not as black and white as your previous post.
    Notley has only promised a royalty review, no evidence she plans on putting more money in the kitty. With all of her campaign promises I cannot fathom how she could.

    Sweden is hardly a failure and Canada being a perfect beacon of hope to the rest of the world is laughable.


    I'm born and bred Albertan. I used to think that King Ralph was great. Until I stopped following the zombie like love of the man and opened my eyes to the damage that man did. He gutted our province and sold it to the highest bidder.

    And lets not forget the party that was in power before Klein.......

    How about we give this new government a chance to succeed or fail? I'm sick and tired of all the wet blankets who are counting their chickens before they hatch.
