oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
A bit ago I happened upon one of those ads promoting the roasts from the 70s...Dean Martin, Lucy, Hope, Berle, Nipsey, Rickles. Back when they smoke, drank and spoke with no holds barred.
I miss back when, remember, when this whole site was elitist. Remember that? Now it's just for degenerates, and assholes, I think. Now F5ing? Those were the days.
Don't worry....the elitists will return with the next North American tour.
I miss back when you could have a million screennames/profiles on AOL and pretend to be 15 different people...LMAO my best friend and I had so many identities...it was so funny!!!
Music is my Religion and Pearl Jam, my Savior! Tattooed Dissident!
I miss back when articles online were just that, nicely written in depth articles by journalists, particularly sports reporting. Now? A lame ass introduction followed by 20 or 30 inane tweets followed by a lamer conclusion. Makes me want to go off the grid.

Maybe that is why the place has thinned? Not so funny anymore to some?

Jack Benny was the shit, too.
just saw a thing on sinatra...a smoke was always burning.
looks like everyone except joey bishop had a drink and a smoke in this pic.

my 16 yr old nephew is all over the rat pack. he loves that music. pretty incredible to my notion that a teenager in 2015 listens to dean martin & frank sinatra more than groups putting out tunes his peers enjoy. also 'the ink spots' are well played on his speakers
That kind of musical exposure is invaluable, especially at that age and with the plethora of shitty music and talentless hacks (to my mind, anyway) that are out there.
I miss back when my favorite bar in college had $2 pitcher kamikaze nights. Proud to say I always made it to my 8:30 class the next morning.
A local radio station did 'bladder buster' nights at some bar. $2 pitchers of any kind of beer until someone goes to the bathroom. The DJ claimed he wore Depends to those nights...
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
I miss the days before the internet when you actually had to be good at music to get your band anywhere. Every year when I am at festivals I am always floored at the newer bands when
a) their guitarist can play the whole show on the same guitar b) the guitarist only plays 2 chords at various speeds and intervals c) the only thing bands know what to write is either the 'we broke up and I hate you song' or the 'I am so in love with whomever'. Shut the F Up. You are in a band on a festival, go shut up and bang 5 groupies and stop your whining. d) All these want to be a black rapper white kids that look like they just moved out of their mothers basement as singers. I remember Rage Against the Machine and what it is supposed to sound like. You are not here or there so stop. Its cool to mix it in but just stop with that being all you do.
I did see one new band Saturday that blew me away. 3 dudes playing the same bass guitar quite awesomely. This isn't from Saturday but is what they did. Fast forward to about a minute fifteen and the really cool shit starts about the 3 minute mark.

I would definitely lose on that one...small bladder and an aversion to adult diapers.
I miss when Showtime usually had decent movies old and new and didn't have a hard on for obscure indie and shlock that go direct to DVD. Apart from some old movies from Buena Vista (Disney,Touchstone, et al) and Universal, their movies selection blows.

(sorry, shortstack - I couldn't resist after my last post. I miss some of my old friends that no longer or very rarely frequent this place)
Although I've been "running" from responsibilities ever since.
