That was a great generation for WRX! Much respect!JonnyPistachio said:I bought a new 2003 Subaru WRX when it first came out. Man I loved that car. I kept it until about 88K miles and sold it. Great re-sale price too. My only problem was the gas gauge failed at some point. I dont recall it being expensive. Oh and also nearly all the paint randomly chipped off the hood air intake. That was weird. I saw it on other wrx's too. I had it painted for about $100 and it looked fine. The interior was kinda cheap back then too. But I do believe that all wheel drive saved me from 2 major accidents. The car handles very nicely.
The AWD is a turn on for me, and the re-sale on Subaru vehicles is for sure a major plus.

Check out stuff like the BRZ, FRS, Mazdaspeed3, Ralliart Lancer and Focus ST
(granted two of those are over the 30k limit)Post edited by Rygar on0 -
I had a quick look at the BRZ/FRS the other day. I like it, but would prefer a car with a bit more room /space (in the back).Rygar said:Check out stuff like the BRZ, FRS, Mazdaspeed3, Ralliart Lancer and Focus ST

I picked up the current generation MazdaSpeed3 when it came out 4/5 years ago, great fun car, built well, looking forward to see what Mazda does to the next gen (I hear AWD)
Focus ST, I dunno if I want a ford! As good as that little car seems to be.
I checked the Ralliart Lancer website, looks good, I know a bit about it, but figure I rather get the WRX, it being a 'new generation' and I think re-sale will be better? (I plan on keeping the car for under 3 years), Though I bet I can get a great deal on the Mitsu, I may have to give it a better look.

The only thing I don't like about the Ralliart is that it is paddle shifter only, no manual0

booooooo! As much as I sometimes like paddles, manuals are still my preference. So the Mitsubishi is officially out.Rygar said:The only thing I don't like about the Ralliart is that it is paddle shifter only, no manual
New 2015 GTI is kinda tempting me with it sweet interior and (based on reviews) slick 6spd manual.
but 30k for a VW gti, not too sure about that.0 -
Decided to go with the WRX, unless that changes in the next month or 2,
I'm liking this color0 -
The Stivo, lol. Look at that Evo front end!
I like the colour but it is pretty safe0 -
I really like the blue too, but maybe it's a bit too flashy for me!0
-
I like the blue, it's got Subaru written all over it but will definitely be the most common colour going.0
-
Its kinda flashy with the gold rims... but I had the blue one and silver rims, and it was a tad less flashy. I really dig the blue though.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0

I was looking to replace my mazda 3 with a 2014/2015 redesigned model, but I did see this thing show up...

I've known some guys that had these, and they were really happy with the performance.Rygar said:I was looking to replace my mazda 3 with a 2014/2015 redesigned model, but I did see this thing show up...

Best price I've seen on them yet, kms aren't too bad. I should at least check it out. Not entirely sure I want two cars that go through premium fuel like a trooper though!0

past few days I've had the blue on my mind!JonnyPistachio said:Its kinda flashy with the gold rims... but I had the blue one and silver rims, and it was a tad less flashy. I really dig the blue though.
I've been reading more write ups on the WRX and something that I find a bit worrying are complaints about wind/road noise in the WRX!
I'm gonna have to drive it again, only do a more in depth test myself.
I gotta say, the NEW 2015 VW GTI still has my attention...and reviews have been pretty positive too, as they have also been for the wrx.
Chris Harris review (he says pedals are placed well for heel and toe, some others have said the opposite, I gotta drive to see myself)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kl8AP6CoyI
I've read/watched over 30 reviews on the wrx and gti, both seem pretty fantastic.Post edited by Idris on0 -
They drive really well, I enjoyed mine (same model year), the clutch is maybe not the best thing ever, but otherwise a solid car. Oh, it does suffer from major torque steer, but it's not a deal breaker.madtowndave said:

(I put almost 4,000 miles on mine before I sold/traded it for something else)0 -
And the next Gen MazdaSpeed 3 is rumored to have 295+ bhp and AWD. Yummy!

I drove that Mazdaspeed yesterday and it wasn't what I expected. Power was good - no comparison to the Evo, but good nonetheless - but the creaks and clunks out of it were a lot more than I expected. The clutch was really really hard, snapped out, and some major torque steer (which I knew all about anyway so non-issue). The intake filter was in horrible shape, and it was obvious the dealership didn't bother cleaning up the engine bay.
Went and drove a 2014 Mazda 3 afterwards. Love that car, so nice and the interior/exterior has come such a long way! Might be the way I go. No comparison on the power of course, but I already have that 6 months of the year :P0 -
Mazda's in general are looking pretty good these days, building good looking, Good performing vehicles (for what they are) overall.
Now if they only bring back the RX-7!

Current ride is a 1995 Toyota Corolla 5 speed. 135,000 miles and is in great shape.
First car was a 1960 Triumph TR3. http://stevemckelvie.wordpress.com/2011/07/09/the-triumph-tr-cars-the-triumph-tr3a/Hold On0 -
That's a pretty good 'first car'.0
