So, in 1978, you had to register with the Draft Board. You know, the draft had ended by then, right? The last lottery was in 1976... i know because my name was tossed into the hat. No new draft orders were issued after 1972.
You also understand that the war in Viet Nam was long over, correct?
You say you were afraid of a haircut, but you wouldn't have been shitting bricks if you were of draft age in 1965, where you would have likely ended up in Viet Nam? And all you could come up with is an answer to "What did we accomplish"? Your answer: Testing New Weapons (half jokingly).
I think that is silly because we can test new weapons systems... without sending men who were drafted into service. And i stand by my comment that you have to be a complete fool to go to war because your military wants to test new weapons systems. Who goes to war and risks dying... so a military contractor can get a large contract for military weapons system?

No need to get your panties in a twist, sir. i was just looking for some answers from you because of some statements you previously made... which you finally answered... sort of. I just wanted some clarification.
Thanx for that... so now... From your very own answers, you believe:
The war in Viet Nam was good for America because it provided proof of concept in the advancement of new weapons technology.
But, that justification was not a worth fighting in Viet Nam... I think that is your answer... because most people do not respond to a question that asks 'Why', with a Yes or No answer.
And you can't say it was worth it or not... instead, you ask me a question to which I answer YES... there are some wars that are paid for in blood. if you need a reference, I'll say World War II.. and not just American lives. Many Europeans and Russians gave their lives to stop aggression in their homeland by an invading/occupational military force. In Viet Nam, it was a civil war between the North and South and had nothing to do with us.
From what you have stated... you think it was a good opportunity for us to send over young men over there, so our military industry could test out new weapons systems and that America would benefit from those test results. Got it. Thank you.

And you ask me to ask Viet Nam Vets.. well... I Do. I work for those military industries... have been since the Summer of 1978. I work with many, many Viet Nam veterans... both officers and elisted men that served in many differing capacities. I have, literally, crossed paths with hundreds of veterans and talked about their war experiences.
I just told a couple of them what you had responded with and they both said your comments were.. well, to make it as nice a s possible... apparently, not formed by using the human brain as it was originally intended. They said that you should learn about Viet Nam before making statements that are founded on the fecal matter dropped from a bull's rectum (I'm paraphrasing, here because I don't remember their exact words).
That whole thing about benefitting from new weapons is... again... not... not very smart. We DID go over there to test out new guerilla warfare tactics... but, that is no justification to have our military personel die and what we learned from that was not worth their lives. What we should have learned from Viet Nam is:
Do not send in troops without a clear military objective.
Do not go into a foriegn conflict without understanding the native culture, language, customs and religious beliefs.
Do not go into armed conflict without full support from the American people.
Do not go to armed conflict without a defined exit strategy.

Anyway, I just wanted to get a better understanding of where your opinions and views come from... that's all.

P.S. Also... I hope you understand that we CAN and do test weapons systems that employ the latest advancement in technology, without sending our troops to war. We built stealth aircraft to defeat Soviet radar technology... but didn't go to war with the Soviet Union. We benefited from stealth technology... and our military families did not have to pay for it with theirr lives. I think that is a good thing.

You would go off to Syria to fight and die along side of Al Qaeda in order to establish a fundamentalist Islamic state if Obama started a war with those pretenses? So, your death would be to establish Syria as an Islamic State that wouls possibly seek to destroy America.
