Does anyone else thing that MMJ should be a band that puts out bootlegs? I mean, they're such a phenomenal live band so it would make so much sense!0

For sure! But are you aware over the past year they have put out 6 offical boots?

Right, but I mean that they should be more proactive with it. I'm aware that its hard for a band to put out bootlegs for every single show. And that is why I feel very blessed that PJ does that. But you would think that MMJ would have a strong enough following to the point that they could set something like that up.0 -
You can find mostly all of their shows on the net. I have every show I have been to. Not technically official but all the same to me.'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

And since they released those 6 shows, they really haven't had a proper headlining tour (IMO Americanarama doesn't count), so maybe once they tour and do series of 2+ hour shows, they will release those, as they have already have a system set up with this site... http://www.livedownloads.com/"McCready played on, lending credence to the theory that he was actually built in Stone’s basement from spare truck parts and vinyl records." - Glide Mag. review of MSG 7/8/030

I'm new to this post but not new to MMJ by any means. Great band for on record & live. Only seen them once. Summerfest 2006 in Milwaukee...same weekend I saw PJ open for Petty two nights in a row. Also saw moe. that weekend. Would really like to get a copy of MMJ's set from that night. Definitely before they got popular among the jam crowd. There weren't very many people there at all. That didn't deter them from killing everything they played. I don't even remember the setlist at this point but would love to hear it again. Didn't know they were hiding on the Interwebs somewhere. Will have to look for that."Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00

After all the hub-bub I've heard about this band, I reserved TN Fire and Z from the library and just listened to TN Fire.
I will partially blame a big lunch and a boring job...but the best thing about this CD is that if I ever have insomnia, it will put me right out. I literally almost fell asleep sitting up.
Not convinced about MMJ yet...hoping for a bit more uptempo numbers in the future...will report back after Z.208XXX (September 2000) - 21 Pearl Jam shows, 2 Eddie Vedder shows, 1 Temple Of The Dog show

Do not start with the early albums. I did and almost quit on them. Now they are a top 3 band for me... Start with Z and Okonokos.'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

Okonokos for sure. I felt the same way about them when I tried getting into them via studio albums... Even Z, being one of the more accessible albums of theirs, imo, just doesnt relay the vibe that they are an awesome band, until you hear/see the songs live. Seriously, you will appreciate all of those songs more after you have listened to Okonokos. See if your library has the DVD. If not, you can find youtube videos. And seriously, Tenn Fire sounds like garbage... great songs on there, but it needs a remaster. After Okonokos, start at Z and move back from there. At Dawn is a great album, but does have a lot of slower stuff on it, so you may find that one a snoozer too if your not into the more mellow stuff. At Dawn has some beautiful songs on it tho. I wasn't able to fully appreciate the slower songs until after I had gotten into the band.Mansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -

I loved MMJ for years before enjoying TF so don't give up hope just yet.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

Just finished Z. I guess it's a little better than TN Fire, but it still doesn't sound like my type of music. BUT...since you guys are all adamant that it will grow on me, I will try to find their other albums and keep their spot on my ipod reserved...at least for a little while.
On to other 'new' music I picked up at the good old library...
I loved the Satellite Party album by Perry Farrell.
I HATED the latest Scott Weiland album.
The jury is still out on The Roots, but after one album, they sound like they have potential.
It's always fun to hunt for 'new' favorites.

I already love My Morning Jacket, and that's when I'm sober.
This is a universal truth for a lot of music, but weed certainly helps make music better.
And for My Morning Jacket, it makes their music AMAZING.
