OBH lineup is lame. Won't stop me from going though

    That does kinda blow.
Where's Ray Lamontagne,War on Drugs or Dr Dog?
Dawes was great last time too. Guess that lineup was gonna be tough to top regardless of who played. I do really wish Dr Dog was there again.

Will have to check out more of Deer Tick, Head & Heart. Hopefully they grow on me leading up to this. I do like Gary Clark -- he's been on my list of acts to see live. Always miss him for one reason or another when he comes through the northeast/mid atlantic

This trip will still be awesome. Cannot wait

I agree though Head and the Heart and Kurt Vile are great. But yeah would love to see Band of Horses, Flaming Lips

I really want to like Kurt Vile, but his music puts me to sleep. Will have to dig in more and see if I come around.

Kind of related. I wanted to get some like minded perspective. The wife and I have never been to Colorado. We are going to Red Rocks for the shows Sat/Sun and then are staying in Estes Park for 3 nights Mon-Thurs. I'm looking for some ideas on what we should see/do for the few days. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Manitou Springs is a great little town at the base of Pike's peak. There is a train that runs folks from Durango to Silverton .. Its a great train ride through that part of rockies. Take a walk through garden of the gods just west of CO springs. You shouldn't have any trouble find things to do or see. The view alone from Estes Park is quite an amazing sight. I lived in that area when I was much younger.

People really go to obh because of the lineup? That's weird. I cant figure out why they dont push this back a week. They've had it on super bowl sunday every time they've done it. Oh well, i cant afford it anyway. Would love to go if i could.

having the super bowl during OBH2 was one of the best parts. the music sets don't interfere with the game.

I think the lineup last time was better but I'd go to this even if MMJ was the only band playing. The undercard acts are just a bonus imo.

I feel the same about the lineup. The trip is supposed to be all about MMJ and a mexican resort vacation, everything else is a bonus.

As for the super bowl, i get it, and most likely wouldnt be affected by it...but im a homer and hold out hope that my giants will be there every year. When they're in it, i drown myself in it pre and post game. It would kill me to be distracted by a concert.
  • Received my it still moves 4lp just now. Sounds great, nice packaging, happy with the purchase.

I have the original (I think). Is it worth to "upgrade"?

  • I have the original too, and I gotta say this new one sounds fucking awesome. I cant say I know the album and nuances among the songs like I would a pj album, so I'm not sure the major differences that they made when they remastered it, but it's one of the best sounding wax I own, that I can definitely say.

I only got through side C this afternoon, so I haven't fully listened to it, and I know it costs 53 bucks instead of 20, but I can definitely say that I usually hate flipping discs after three songs (thus why I don't listen to pj vaults too often anymore) but I will definitely play this box set instead of the other copy I own, even though this will be 4 discs and I'll have to get off my fat ass to flip it.

Hope this helps. See if you can find a review or two on the release, see what others say if you're hesitant to buy it.

You didn't listen to Golden & the other tracks they released weeks back? Totally worth it.

That was my favorite cover of their three night run at the Wiltern in 2012.

INCREDIBLE show in Indy last night!!

    image

First time I've attended a show at this venue and was really impressed with the setting and the sound!!

    image

We got a Jim solo song...State Of The Art (AEIOU)
And a Carl solo song...Carried Away
    Both were OUTSTANDING!!
Jim's outro to Carl's performance was hilarious

    image

Steam Engine opened the encore set and it was one of the best versions I've heard in a long time!!

Really had a great time at the show and it was an excellent way to kick off the Indy 500 weekend... we even got a SWEET poster!!

How long was the show, Dave? I know you can't judge a MMJ show based on number of songs (due to jams and whatnot) but 19 songs seems a bit short. Either way, I bet it was a great time! Enjoy the race!!
