My take on this thread up to now (which can be quickly summarised):
On Ted Nugent (whether one finds this acceptable or not) - in a factual/non judgemental way:
- He is a poacher - documented
- He is a trophy hunter - documented
- He gets a kick out of killing animals - documented
- He has no respect for animals - documented
- He makes money out of canned hunts - documented
- He is a coward - documented
- He is a paedophile - documented
On hunting:
- It has been established that there are different 'types' of hunters/hunts.
- Whilst ethical and therapeutic hunting is deemed 'acceptable' by all (seemingly), it is not condoned by all.
- Canned hunts are deemed to be shameful by all, with the exception of a couple.
- Trophy hunting is deemed unacceptable by all, with the exception of a couple.
- As Nugent partakes in canned hunts, is a trophy hunter and a poacher, he is not deemed to be an 'ethical' hunter but rather one of 'those' hunters - it's a sport from which one gets a kick from killing. This is again seems to be the opinion of most, apart from a couple.
- Hunting (the Nugent way) is not conservation, even if he would like to think so.
- There seems to be some confusion by some between a hunter (as a person) and the ACTS of certain type of "hunters".
Plus there are a few posts on Nugent's 'politics' and political actions (or lack thereof) and his rants.
My personal thoughts on Nugent (and I guess this makes me judgemental and unforgiving):
He is a lowlife, a has-been attention seeking whore. Should he not have his regular rants, his regular brushes with the law to keep him in the spotlight (and we are somewhat guilty of giving him a platform here), he would probably just be an old, deaf nobody sitting in his leather chair at home surrounded by his 'trophies', bow on his lap trying to remember what underaged pussy was like with the only beaver he is laying his eyes on being the stuffed one on his mantlepiece. No one would be interested in him or partake in his organised canned hunts.
As someone mentioned, he has a tour planned - he needs publicity at the moment.
Apologies - this was longer than anticipated.[/b]0 -
I did a quicky this morning
...
in wiki
Trophy hunting is the selective hunting of wild game animals. Although parts of the slain animal may be kept as a hunting trophy or memorial (usually the skin, antlers and/or head), the carcass itself is sometimes used as food.
Trophy hunting has firm supporters and opponents. Public debate about trophy hunting often centres on the question of the morality of sport hunting and the question of the extent to which the money paid by trophy hunters benefits the population of game animals and the local economy.
Trophy hunting should not be confused with poaching, the practice of taking game illegally.
So thank goodness I was not confused on that part.
Hunting is the practice of pursuing any living thing, usually wildlife, for food, recreation, or trade. In present-day use, the term refers to lawful hunting, as distinguished from poaching, which is the killing, trapping or capture of the hunted species contrary to applicable law. The species which are hunted are referred to as game, and are usually mammalsand migratory or non-migratory gamebirds.
Hunting can also involve the elimination of vermin, as a means of pest control to prevent diseases caused byoverpopulation. Hunting advocates state that hunting can be a necessary component of modern wildlife management, for example to help maintain a population of healthy animals within an environment's ecological carrying capacity when natural checks such as predators are absent. In the United States, wildlife managers are frequently part of hunting regulatory and licensing bodies, where they help to set rules on the number, manner and conditions in which game may be hunted.
The pursuit, capture and release, or capture for food of fish is called fishing, which is not commonly categorised as a form of hunting. Trapping is also usually considered a separate activity.
I guess those who oppose hunting then could be ok with fishing as the definition
is not considered hunting though in my eyes the outcome is the same.
As far as Ted goes
also quick search on wiki which is unbiased... I noticed biased personal opinion on the web
claiming to be documented when it was opinion and heresay.
In September 2009, Nugent embarked on a hunt near Somerset, El Dorado County, California. He was accompanied by a guide and a cameraman, filming for his Outdoor Channel show "Spirit of the Wild." The video taken appeared in an episode of the show first broadcast on February 9, 2010. California Fish and Game wardens who watched the broadcast noticed that it showed Nugent killing a very young buck which had been attracted by commercial bait. Both the killing of such a young deer and the use of bait are crimes under California state law. On August 13, 2010, he pled no contest in Yuba County to two misdemeanors: illegally baiting a deer, and failing to have a deer tag signed by a government official after a kill. He was fined USD $1,750 by the court and is banned from hunting in California until June 2012. In April 2012 Nugent signed a plea bargaining agreement to plead guilty to two misdemeanors for illegally taking a bear after shooting one earlier at a bait station. He will be fined $10,000, banned from hunting in Alaska and on Federal land for one year and must complete two years on federal probation.
I did not see him called a poacher in these charges.
Time will tell how Ted handles these mistakes he has made and hopefully his
public service announcements will bring awareness. We'll be seeing him a bit more on TV
I guess.
If so and he learns from his mistakes I hope others give him props for that,
most especially the blue team
cause we all are living and learning.
My personal opinion of hunters and Ted remain unbiased.
I'm not going to judge either. I can't in this case, I too have learned a lesson.
People can twist and exaggerate as they see fit ...
like a rock star in his younger days sleeping with groupies...
that is now a pedophlie :? I bet there are a lot of older rockstars suddenly surprised :wtf:
being a groupie myself I promise not to press charges
they are some fine old memories
The overuse of the term pedophile and labeling someone as so
distracts from those who are truly dangerous to society in my opinion.
The biggest problem for me is others slamming people
just because they don't like them, which we have seen in this thread.
Don't have to like nor agree to be accepting, kind and respectful,
this we do can do for ourselves and it is called the golden rule.0 -

I saw a bumper sticker in the 80's that that read "NUKE THE GAY WHALES FOR CHRIST"..and that kinda reminds me of some of the folks on the train..internet protesters with overlaping values and opinions...(this is o.k but...) and just gets comical after awhile and all you can do is laugh and enjoy the ride.

Just like you Godfather who are in acceptence and admiration of TN which I respect that you have stook to your guns. I also respect Chadwick for sticking to his guns by showing his passion for this subject matter and what it intails. So allow him to vent as long he wishes just like you in turn would wish to vent your love for this person TN. That said you take a minute or two and take some deep breaths of fresh air of which many of these hunted/killed animals cannot take anymore.
