Or we could have a decent discussion on hunting, the pros and cons, how it affects us, how "hunters" like Nugent (and I'm not Nugent bashing, just giving a benchmark for some kind of understanding) impact the perception of hunters in general, does the law do enough to prevent poaching and more without being patronised, without trolling or baiting, etc. There are lots to talk about and even without a certain person, we did have posters coming from different angles.

This is far from an un-emotional subject, and I for one really appreciate this type of level-headedness and desire for constructive discussion.
Parts of this thread make I feel like I'm in some bizarro-world-AMT.
Yes I do know fishing is a form of hunting something I did not very often and NOT very well. In the summers the children try to catch what they can better than I. They still eat meat even though one of them gave it up for 6 months so I gather little by little they may learn there's an alternative to eating meat and the health benifits that ly within.

The thing is, one can fish for sport and still be ethical (ie catching the fish and releasing it). Even if you want to catch the biggest and baddest one, you can without killing it (take a photo as a 'trophy' before releasing it). It's a bit more difficult with a 'furry' animal hunt!
Eating farmed meat is open to debate but should you do so, it's important to source your meat properly (ie knowing where it comes from, now it was cared for and slaughtered). Part of a balanced diet, it's not bad for you. Eating red meat at every meal, every day is certain death!

From a law point of view, what is legal is legal. From a hunting point of view, as you very well know, I can accept and can condone ethical hunting for sustenance and therapeutical hunting (if you remember what that is). And as you very well know, I cannot condone canned hunts and trophy hunting which, you know, is the unscrupulous and callous killing of rounded up and baited animals for the sheer thrill of killing 'a beast' with no other reason than to stuff and mount it. I can again give you analogies to make it clearer but that will not work, as we have seen already.
Ted's very minor discretion... Plural to start with. Hunting and killing is Nugent's life - he says so himself. He can't get enough killing animals - he said it himself. He has done so since he was old enough. I will not give props to Nugent - there are many, many reasons. Putting out a message on his shows was a deal made to avoid a stiffer sentence - doesn't mean anything to him. But you know that. I guess I am unforgiving when it comes to the acts committed by Nugent (and not just hunting) which he does not regret at all (said so himself). No excuse for him.
