    Hi all,

    quite new here...

I was going to make a new thread "Pearl Jam - please experiment with a horn section" but there seems to be a similar discussion already here.

I personally would love to hear some Pearl Jam songs with a horn section. Not a single sax, but a similar or a bigger horn section that they had when they played The Real Me at VH1 Rock Honors would sound great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjB1r77JljM

I mean it would bring that 70's The Who, The Rolling Stones sort of vibe.

Some PJ songs that would - in my opinion - sound great with a horn section (in alphabetical order):

    All Or None
    All Those Yesterdays
    Around The Bend
Come Back (already has that soul-vibe)
    Do The Evolution
Faithful (the first song that came to my mind, the chorus would sound great)
    Hail Hail
    In Hiding
    Low Light
    Off He Goes
    Parting Ways
    Thumbing My Way

The horns wouldn't have to be all over the place in every song. In slow songs like All or None they could be used in a more subtle way.

Some evidence that horns sound great in Rock:

The Band - Across The Great Divine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSEWxMOLSpk
    The Who - 5:15: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpK0zDJE4qs
    U2 - Angel Of Harlem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJjeyceBnKI
The Doors - Touch Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PNqzK4ZXFI
The Rolling Stones - Rocks Off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqk1kdjk5o0

I personally love the way horns sound, and think it's a shame they are no longer used in pop/rock as they were in the late 60's and 70's.

Hey, I'm not saying I agree that PJ needs a saxophonist, but it did work for the Boss and the Rolling Stones. Just sayin'...

Perhaps I should have created a separate thread :) I wouldn't want them to have a single sax man playing solos, but I would love to hear the band with a horn section backing them.

I don't mean that they should have one at each show, or in an album (though I wouldn't oppose the album option) but at least one show with a horn section would be nice. They could ask Pete (Townshend) help with the arrangements ;) I can hear in my head how the arrangements would go e.g. for Faithful and Do The Evolution.

I'm sure you didn't dislike how the band sounded at VH1 Rock Honors?
