Speaking as a huge Springsteen fan: saxophone has no place in rock music. Period. Loved the Big Man, but cringe when I try to introduce other people to the genius of Bruce's songs. A sax solo usually just ruins the whole thing.

A saxophonist is exactly what Pearl Jam requires to maintain their unique rock sound.
    Love this idea!
I hope they have one for the upcoming tour!!!
    Love me some saxophone.
A banjo would be nice too!
Waiting...boing, boing, boing,...watching the clock, boing, boing.

edit - the more I think about it, VS, Yield and No Code are perfect examples of albums where a saxophone would've been a great compliment. I always thought there was something missing from those albums.

I don't really expect anything to really happen....pretty sure Ed went through the Bruce phase already and pays tribute in his solo shows.

I've always said Ed wants to be the next Bruce, so it'll likely happen...

    Terrible idea...

I can see on a single piece of music, on a studio track them making the choice to have a sax accompany a piece, as they have used an orchestral accompaniment for Just Breathe or something like that.

I would not be a fan of it, as I am not a fan of Boom either for the most part, even the intro to "Future Days" is better on piano on the studio version, instead of the Phantom of the Opera intro Boom does on his Organ, or the "Crazy Mary" 3 minutes I wait until Mike is going to start his guitar solo!

Sorry I mean no disrespect, Boom does have a nice smile!

To me Pearl Jam is a Rock band, though I respect and admire their desire to evolve and experiment, to change who you are to the point of cheesing it up with a sax or organ to me would never sit well. Sorry!!!

David Bowie's Blackstar is heavy on the sax and it's killer. One horn tune could be awesome...think Radiohead's The National Anthem. Let's make this happen...at The Ride Festival preferably.

Yes, I would like to hear some horns in PJ's next album. I'm a big fan of that sound in rock music (if done well, obviously. No need for anything gratuitous).

I didn't know there was people out there that didn't like Boom. What?? Why?! There's only a few songs a night where you can reeeeeeally hear him anyway.
But a Sax?? I personally feel like that would ruin a lot of songs.. And I love horns.. Maybe if they write new songs that has some, then maybe....maybe :l

I don't think that PJ should throw sax into songs that already exist. That would totally bizarre, and I've never heard of any band doing such a thing. I just think it would be cool if they tried to incorporate some sax or other horns in some future song creations.
