By the way, would it kill anyone to toss a xylophone into the mix?

Mad Season did it just fine with Long Gone Day.

I'm sure it'd work just fine too for Pearl Jam.

Oh hell, they had a sax too.

I was just listening to Ten yesterday and thinking how much better most of the songs would be with a little SAX thrown in the mix. Maybe they will remaster it again and update the songs with some SAX.

Can you imagine how much better Evenflow would be???! Epic!'

    Xylophone? That's just silly.

    Vibraphone? YES!

They do not need a saxophone. Please, don't add a saxophone!

They need to drop the drums as well. Matt on bongos, Stone on flute, Mike with the saxy sound waves.

I could get on board with some bongos...but only if Jack is brought back. Jack is clearly the superior drummer and I feel he is more suited to bongos than Matt.

not only do they not need a saxophonist, they need to drop the keyboardist. nothing against Boom or keyboards in general, I just don't feel it fits their music.

They need Boom on keyboards to be able to perform "Baba O'Reilly," "Chloe Dancer," "You Are" and probably several others.

Imagine Pearl Jam covering this song, or producing a song almost as great as this, with Boom ripping on the Sax midway thru.

  • Lets go the whole hog and turn them into a ska band
  • You don’t need a sax when you’ve got Mike McCready. Period. Worst idea ever! While we’re at it, why don’t we give Ed a break and let Julio Iglasius step in lol

    Wow!

I can't believe the support this has garnered after all this time!

Hope the band members are paying attention to this...

  • I’ve changed a lot this last few years.  I think having a kid has helped me to realize how badly they’ve needed a sax player instead of boom.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

Nope. No way.. Can't even tell if you guys are joking.

worst idea I have heard on the board, there have been some bad ones. Don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings.

while we are talking about drummers.. Jack wrote some amazing  tribal beats but was not an elite live drummer compared to Dave A or Matt. Not even close!

Only if it's Stone playing on tenor.

But seriously, Paul Westerberg played a little sax on one of his records so what the heck, give it a whirl.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

If Dave A was an elite drummer, he would be in a band that tours.
His eminence has yet to show.
